Newbie to the "Merc World" but I would be interested in joining. I've had very little success finding anyone with one of these beasts still on the road 60 merc#1.jpg

Hey guys! I am finally happy to say I was able to purchase my dream car this weekend...a 1951 Merc. (pics coming soon) Its an older restoration (approx. 12 years ago) that is bone stock. These cars have been my computer background since before medical school and now 3/4 through residency and has been my motivation. Anyway, I have a couple questions....
1: how much can I lower it (with just blocks and coils) before I run into steering issues??
2: I was told it has an electric overdrive.....I am by now means a mechanic or claim to know all about these so I am just asking what you guys might know. I have been doing some reading about the Borg-Warner 3-spd with electric overdrive (which I think this is??)

So this spring or summer I have to get my 51' lower...one way or another. There was another thread that discussed using Aerostar springs in the front (Moog cc850) and Monroe 5751 shocks and then lowering blocks in the rear. Has anyone tried this set up in their Merc?? seems like many other cars do great with this set up...

Has anyone out there have any info on the Mercury that Cotati speed shop was building and had at Sema back in 2010. Did it get finished and where can someone find some info or pictures of it since then.
