Technical Early SBC Carburetor Question!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by brett4christ, Nov 25, 2014.

  1. Thanks. Larry!

CB, I'm in Greenville as Larry mentioned, but not South Carolina. I'm in NORTH Carolina. NC is my home state, but I like the "other" Greenville better!

Why did you think TX or OK? Just curious...

  3. I know YOU said north, but if you say "Greenville, NC" in the southeast, everyone tends to assume South as soon as they hear Greenville and miss NC altogether!

  5. Thanks to a really stand-up HAMBer, I now have three 4-Jets on their way!

He thinks I can build 2 from the parts, so I can run one and have a spare!

    Thanks, Angelo!

  6. Brett,
I didn't have any reason to make that assumption other than thinking about shipping costs and hoping a good guy lived nearby.

  7. Outstanding. If you end up missing any critical pieces let me know. I have an acquaintance that owns a carb shop that has been in business for over 40 years. He probably has spare pieces laying about for those carbs. He said the floats are the most usual problem as they start leaking and fill up with gas.

  8. Angelo just contacted me...they're still coming, but they MAY be from something other than a 283. I'll see when they get here!

  9. I had the chance to meet a HAMBer face-to-face today, after years of chatting here!

Drove over to Dave's (D-Russ) house this morning and had a great time bench racing and eyeballing his Vicky! Thanks for the hospitality, dude!

As I was leaving, he tells me to look up another VA HAMBer to see if he an build a carb for me! One quick conversation to this stand-up dude and now I will have a dialed-in 4-jet for my 265-ish 283!

    Man, I'm getting psyched!

  11. Yep, I'm set!

    C4B + 4GC + 283 + 31A = Awesome!

  12. For the 265" full effect, you need the topside mounted oil filter gizmo.

  13. Actually, the 56 265 had a provision for a canister-type oil filter on the "traditional" location... If not mistaken...

    Brett,
It's not a Rochester but I am still excited to finally get it dialed in today.
