Hot Rods ABS electric brake booster

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by buickwagon, Dec 1, 2014.

  1. Hi, anyone had any experience with the ABS electric brake booster kit ?
    Good / bad or ???
I have a friend with a 35 Chevy pickup, GM front calipers, F100 rear drums, 8" dual diaphram booster under the floor, 1" bore master cylinder and the thing just wont stop ! Engine is a blown SBC. Booster and mc been checked and tested ok, pedal ratio appears ok (6.5 @ 1 or thereabouts) according to the brake guys its developing 17 psi vacuum so shouldnt require a vac tank. New caliper kits, new wheel cylinders.......still wont stop.....now looking at these electric boosters......any ideas anyone ???? Cheers guys thanks

I don't know about the ABS, but I had this problem on an off topic truck and a '32 roadster for a friend. Turned out to be the proportioning valve stuck, so he only had rear brakes.

Installed one in my pick-up about 10,000 miles ago and haven't had any problems, braking is excellent and balanced ! Expensive but I wanted a clean firewall. Highly recommend. .

    I put one in a F 100 for a customer. Worked fine.
You might try a smaller diameter master cylinder first.
