The dual engine Willys had a small air cooled engine in the back turning a supercharger which fed into the engine in the front. Don't recall if there was any way to sync up the RPM / speed between the 2 engines. Cool exercise in engineering

 

From that view yes. It had no fenders on it, I towed the car to the line for the photo shoot, I'll try to add my pictures. Can't load the pictures

Thought you might enjoy these. The "mad thrash" to get Tom Willford's truck finished for Fremont back in '87. In the first pic, I am at the front, Bobby Mead is wiring the mag switch, and the painter Dan leuthold is doing some final touches. The second shot shows the "hell of a mess", note the time! The third photo (shot by Tom) at Baylands, is one of my favorites.

Nice job BCCHOPIT. Is that a 'glas car or steel? Does the LH motor plate mount have a reinforcing gusset plate on the backside? The reason I ask is I had a similar non-gusseted motor plate tab break. The left side motor tab gets jerked upward when the throttle is stabbed. You might want to recommend to your client that you add this reinforcement if needed.

This 33 that was ran out of our shop in the early 70s. Would like some info if anyone has it.
The car was said to come from out west. with a injected big block. We changed to a injected small block with a clutchflite to run in Div. 4- C/GAS. was sold in about 1975 or so.

 

Check previous page Post #1703 and interior in my avatar. How about notches in bottom of cowl? Any of that look familiar? I would love to give you more pics, but something crazy is going on and they will not download without error.

 

Looks a lot the same. The rear fenders are longer, but could have been changed.
This had a steel body with operating doors, glassfront cap,rear fenders and deck lid.
Frame was 2x3, stright front axle with 4 bar ,8 3/4 chry. rear with ladderbars,steering was a reversed corvair box, this car had a brake and clutch pedal, we used a clutchflite back then with a push button shifter. also it ran only rear brakes.

Speedy, Here is a pic that would not load last night of the rear of the car, which has a ladder bar 83/4 and a distinctive one piece deck lid/w tire indention. Look familiar?

 

I sent you a PM with more info.
This looks a lot like the car. Battery mounted the same.We had a large 100 lb battery,the deck lid pinned on the same way.
Where and when did you get the car.
I noticed the trans tunnel look to be the same. The fuel cell would have been added, we ran a combination fuel and water tank where the radiator would have been.

 

Speedy, Got it in late 80s from Tyler, Texas area. It had been run at Hallsville Raceway some. Was told it came there from Memphis.
Mine has gray splatter paint, gas pedal on the right, and pass door is cut out and welded. Sure would like to see better pics of yours and know where and when you guys ran it.

 

As we try to connect the dots on a car's history courtesy of Bobby Austin, I have learned a bit about this '33 called Wild & Wooly. Early info says it was run in Riverside, Cal area by Bob Woolbright wearing Valley Head Service and Hayden Coolers sponsorships. Power was injected BBC. Chassis was by Tanaka Funny Cars?
After moving to Arkansas, ownership changed to Jim White and Leon Gearhart in the Jonesboro - Paragould area. This almost show quality pearl white coupe ended up with an injected SBC connected to a clutchflite, a 4 speed, and later a pushbutton torqueflite. Set up as a C/Gasser, it was a crowd favorite at Jim's Union 76 Station in Jonesboro, at George Ray's Wildcat Raceway (pictured), Div 4 tracks in MO and Tennessee, or lined up against Jerry Allison's ex/Billy Holt then David Inman Red, White, and Blue 33.
The car moved on to a new owner in the Memphis area and was seen running at Dyersburg, Tennessee. Help us out with any info if you can, as we dig out some pics that have never even heard of a scanner. Thanks to Bobby and his wife with the camera.

 

Rob, when I saw those pics that Speedy posted, I immediately thought of your car. That cut out around the bottom of cowl sure looks familiar.

 

My 1936 rumble seat coupe is leaving for a good new home tomorrow....

 

Weasel, congrats on selling the coupe. Hopefully the new owner will keep us posted on progress.
Mark, Thanks for keeping an eye open for info on my car and now for more info on the Wild and Wooly coupe. I am amazed no one in the Memphis area has any info on these two 33s, or is it just one. Still hoping someone will surface. Maybe the recent pics will help, but still, white 33 Willys coupe racecar in Memphis. How many could there have been? Let's just open it up to 33 Willys coupes in Tennessee in the 70s.

Does anyone know who was making these full length trunk lid/tire indention pieces. Here are a couple of pics of the one on my car. It looks like there may have been one on George Montgomery's above also. Who was making these?

 

Sorry about the doubles on pictures, maybe I can post pictures now.
The first picture is a George Rays Wildcat drag strip, This is in the 70s when George was still using the flag starts. That is George running after he droped the flag, to get away from the cars.
Thats me in front of the Willys with the white jacket on, I still have the jacket,but not the hair.
SPEEDY Any info on this car?
