Happy Thanksgiving from New Hampshire. This is one of my favorite illustrations of the holiday. Norman Rockwell illustration from 1945. People are actual folks from Maine. Guy was an airman that flew on 60 bombing missions over Germany and made it out alive and the lady is his mother. Their actual kitchen "down Maine" is the setting and for guys of my generation this says it all for Thanksgiving! Family, honor, duty, patriotism all quietly captured in one image. May God Bless America.
In early autumn of 1621, the 53 surviving Pilgrims celebrated their successful harvest, as was the English custom. During this time, "many of the Indians coming together with their great king Massasoit, with some ninety men." Then during my childhood for me it was more like the Norman Rockwell painting of a Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has for some has turned into a Rockwell parody,,, Whatever way you chose to enjoy your Thanksgiving,, a traditional one or just a big party,,take a moment to be thankful for what we have in this country,,freedom and the men and women that are in harms way to keep it free .HRP
