Great writeup on the Aussie developments along w/ M.T.'s work!

  3. Thanks for the info. Golden! Sounds virtually identical to the M/T setup, but a few years later. This will help a lot in running down photos.

wow, this solves a problem i had be playing with for a while, Instead i was looking at a shitty lifter angle to make up for a valve angle issue in a build i was tossing around

  8. I was talking to an old magazine co-worker who told me how much he enjoyed the site. I said, "You know all that crap we had to put in every issue? Well, I just leave out those parts!" .We had a good laugh out of that...so in some ways, it's easier than it looks.

  9. Phil Irving, have a read about this remarkable man, he is a engineer without peers, creating great things from nothing to remarkable from only ideas in his head.
Huge respect for his involvement in automotive and motorcycle history of Australia.

  10. So true. What an amazing career.

Pretty impressive for a guy who was injured so badly as a kid, that doctors told his mother he would never use his arm again.
If I had half the backbone M/T had I could accomplish just about anything.

The man just simply would not lay down for anybody, under any circumstances.

Danny told me he sold them all to Ferguson. I've thought about contacting him about it since he seems to own every pattern from every speed part ever made. The guy has connections and serious ca$h.

Many hybrid V8 headed six cylinder Ford drag racing engines have had to use the three piece pushrod to get the canted valve V8 chambers to work on the inline six block, including some championship caliber cars.

Did those inline 6cyl Cleveland heads that Batten did up back in the day use a setup like that?

    Bill,
Google "Batten 300 Ford Cleveland",and a link to a Bangshift article, and a Hot Rod magazine article come up,among others.

I'm on my mobile app here, and not sure how to post a link to them,or I already would have put one up.

It's some really cool stuff.Check it out,I think you'll dig it:)

I got a Thanksgiving text from Jess Tyree and asked him about the hemi Ford and those wild pushrods. In his normal style he said, "I made them work." You have got to know Jess, but as usual, a lot of MT's success came from the super people he had working with him. He remembered the engine going back to Ford and Mickey giving him the Thunderbolt. Looking back, he kind of wished he had not sold it for 5 grand.

  24. Wow, thanks for the first-hand history.
