Found out this is headed to the crusher. Anything worth saving?

Can't tell if they're bent due to the roof damage but the doors and door pillars could be used to convert a 4 door sedan into a 2 door. I'd bet there's at least a grand worth of re-sellable parts on that car, maybe more.

if you have the extra cash to buy it, the time to strip it, some place to keep shell and removed parts and somewhere and way to take leftover parts for scrap go for it

Well if the parts are free or nearly free for the taking, grab everything that is in good shape and can be unbolted from it including the SBC. Dash, steering wheel, window garnish, doors, bumper, etc.

  11. Down my way, that'd be considered fine for a rebuild.:D

I know its a big leap in another direction in car's, but I wish my last A Model was half as good as that when I started! No old steel is too bad to save, you cant go down to the local parts store and get a new part.
Well, maybe you can on some parts...........
    But.......um.......errr.......
    What were we talking about?
    Umm.............
Think, I'll shut up now................:D

Honestly if you have the place to keep it, they are always good enough to keep. That or pass it onto someone that has the space/need for it.
    Cheers,
    Doc.

  13. Hey Doc, good to see you posting.
Guess we down on this hemisphere gota take what we can get, and make the best with it.
I always think our Northern hemisphere Buddy's have it lucky and at the rate their cars are leaving the US, or being crushed, cars like this one will be a rebuilder in ten years.

G'day mate, yeah it does seem to be a bit easier up there! It's even easier for us here in Oz compared to what you guys have in NZ.
There is some very beat up tin being worked into nice cars, and like you say, a lot more cars both project tin and complete cars being imported. No matter what though, its good to see Hot Rodding still growing over here!

    Cheers,
    Doc.

  15. Worth parting out, especially if not rotted too badly. And may as well run the numbers on the engine and see where that came from, on the off chance it actually is like a Corvette motor or something.

What they said....and even if the body is beyond salvage if you know any "tin wizards" sometimes they use the darnedest parts to graft together and make a body component.....

if there is a part on that car that is not bent rusted or destroyed it is worth saving. why would you think there was nothing there to save?
