Will these new uprights allow you to cruise with lift open?

No, The liftgates twisted due to the force put on it while cruising with them open as well as the torsion bars holding pressure on the gates...

You're the Man Mike. My wife can open the gate by herself now!!!

    Thanks!!!

  6. Wow what a great story about a cool car. You and your family are very lucky to have this to keep together.
I don't consider myself a hoarder but I probably am! It makes me feel awesome to be able to find the naugahyde for this project. To all the hoarders out there, this is why we keep all this shit for years. To find it a good home.

So things have changed a bit over here. [understand this was a big swing for me to change the car up a bit but it was time. If you don't like it, well that's cool. We are very happy with the change and it has rekindle the flame we've had for this old car. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1409093286.025696.jpg this is where it started, when you see it.

Great car and excellent choice of wheels. I've always liked the look of the Hollingsworth Nomad on the cover of the Revell model kit with the (pasted) chrome reverse rims. I always thought they looked better on the wagon than the Buick wires it had. By the way, I wish (and still kick myself) I hadn't sold my 55 Nomad over 30 years ago.

Man you must be livin right, God bless ya. I'm also a tri five dork, Don't matter Cars truck gasser, still working on that 57 vette and a nomad but I have to be thankful for what I've been given. I don't know if given is the correct word, lol. Worked my ass off for these cars but I love them. Not only is a Nomad a plus if I read your post correctly you are getting to work on this car with your son and grandson. Either way those are memories that you'll always have. I have a son thats into all the new electronics crap and we had a hard time connecting and we worked on the gasser together. I know it was hard for him to relate to me sometimes and what made me tick seemed so out there to him, But when he strapped on that helmet and took the gasser down the track for the first time he was hooked. I love teaching him stuff and him helping me do some of the things that are getting harder for me to do physically . Enjoy each day with your son and this project and don't get overwhelmed with what it needs and don't need. Clean it up and make it reliable and do some road trips ,cruise nights, etc. The car looks bitchin what ever you do, it's a nomad for Christs sake how could you go wrong. Oh wait a minute I guess there are ways to go wrong.lol. just kidding, But no wheel spinners please. loll Enjoy,YRUHOT..........Doug
