Well, being that Im broke, not alot I can do right now on the car, so Ill start up a build thread. Backstory, im 24, this is my second build, definitley doing this one nicer than my truck I did previously, (It was...dare I say..almost an R word...but whatever, I liked it) ANYWAYS, bought the car just over a year ago out of Indiana, it was originally a Michigan car, body codes say it was built in StLouis. Original all rebuild 235. Very clean car. Started doing a little here and there then me and the wife bought a house earlier this year, and you know how that goes. So, the build has been going slow, but finally making some progress. I know that its about half and half on this site when it comes to people liking or disliking cars that are on airbags, and "slammed", so, if you dont like it...cool...if you do..thanks. Constructive criticism is always welcome. So this is when I got it. All stock, good shape, some work done on the pass. quarter. a few things here and there but pretty damn clean. Then months and months go by, move into a new house, nice new garage...didnt even look at it for a while, then decided to get to work....Took the body off to do the frame work.. So I got the full gambino kit, and I cant get over how awesome it it. Great kit, very high quality. Took a couple months, made sure I measured everything a million times, and it all seems to be where it needs to be. Also, I am using the 235, cause 350s are overrated....so I got an Adapter Kit from Dave at Vintage Metalworks to put a T5 behind it. Also built a bolt in trans crossmember.
Painted, engine in, ready to go.... Finally got the body back on about 2 weeks ago... And now it sits in my garage, so I can go stare at it and day dream. Now for lots of body work, lots of body work...but thats what I do for a living, so the last thing I want to do when I get home, is more body work...
Nice , I look forward to seeing your car go together no mater if it happens slo or fst When I was 24 I didn't dare take my car of the frame because then I would have been back on the bicycle Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App
looks great !! as if i was looking at my own chassis. Glad that all the gambino stuff worked for you as ive had guys explain its hard to do but there is so much info on them here and its all tried and tested! cant wait for some more progress pics
With a background in body work that shouldn't take ya long.... just gotta get in the mood. Looks like the majority of the bull work is done. Like in the movie The Money Pit....2 Weeks.
I like it. I have been a racer sense I was 15. Dirt Track & RR M/C for over 20 years. Road Race car for the last 8. Anyway in that world a real racing frame is called a "Framer" For me, this gives new meaning to custom car nomenclature That's a "Framer" Frame on The Ground FOTG Frame On Ground FOG I like that better And just for the record. I'm not even a Bag guy unless it's on the side of the cycle. That's a Bagger Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App
what does your trunk floor look like? everybody shows the profile shot and the masses all applaud, then later there is a picture of the trunk and you can see the ground.
Right now...Yea you can see the ground. But because I just put it all back together. I am going to build a new floor and hump over it all...hide all the air ride stuff too. All in time...
