Good morning, a question for you. For the engine, you prefer carburetor all chrome or black and chrome? Thanks for help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like the black. It shows the shape and detail of the carb whereas the chrome tends to hide the details I am having some tri power Rochesters put together right now by Dick at Dick's Hot Rod Carbs. I am going to keep the natural finish with metallic grey bases. The engine will be much brighter....I am thinking VHT Burnt Copper right now (if I am brave enough!) Loving your work Mirko!
As others have said previously, Cadzilla has nothing on yours. Cadzilla is hi-tech and you are doin it Traditionally. Also I'm sure Boyd started with an almost pristine car to begin with. Excellent fabrication on your part.
IMHO, chrome reserved for exposed engines, even though this will be a show car. Black will be easier to clean.??? Love every bit of this project. Thanks for sharing. JT
Those of us in America who envy the level of craftsmanship and vision seen here need to step back and consider the advantage of being born in a country with centuries upon centuries of culture layered up in the everyday world of Italy. Built on the ruins of the Roman Empire, home of the Vatican, the Coliseum, cathedrals built by geniuses that still stand, and a landscape covered with artifacts, magnificent buildings, sculpture that the public sees everyday; paintings and frescoes in the buildings and fashion designers who keep us all in thrall adding to a contemporary life, where culture seeps out of atmosphere. Da Vinci, Carivagio, Tiepolo, Titian, Bottecelli, Michealangelo, Ferrari. Someone said this was not a project for the HAMB, and someone essentially said: crap. This is a lesson, folks, in what happens when you quit thinking fast food and Earl Schieb, and adapt yourself to the idea that everything we touch is capable of being elevated by hard word with our hands, our minds and our hearts. Hell yes! This build belongs on the HAMB because we, too, can crank out things that change the world and have and will keep on doing it, if we take a mind to. Bravo! It's a good thing to see someone who apologizes for his English who is giving us a peek at the methodology of genius, and who doesn't brag that what he's doing is up to very much at all. I like Mirko because he has stones.
Your words fill my hearth, i'm honored to share with you my work. Now i can only continue my restoration. Thanks Mirko
Thanx for your words, fortynut...I'm constantly amazed by what Europeans can do with metal -NOT ONE OF US would have taken on Mirko's Cad simply because it was so far gone (including me) and I only wish I could fabricate metal to mimic original pieces...!!! I too, have a '48 Cad fastback and the worst rust on it was the rear of the trunk pan. Did I rebuild it...??? NOT a chance. I found a Sedanet in a junk yard and cut off the pan and welded it in...that's as close as I got to fabricating metal parts for my Cad...I'll never be able to fabricate metal like Mirko 73 or his pals and I'm jealous of their dedication...and I call myself a hot rodder...!!! I bow to your capabilities...!!! R-
Fortynut, Truer words may never have been spoken, on the Hamb. Having a backround in European race cars, let me tell you, nobody does it better. A close friend builds Porsche race engines, that will goes Balls Out, for 24hrs and never blink an eye. An Audi diesel race engine is run on the dyno, for 40hrs, before it ever sets foot in the chassis. America is full of awesome builders, from all over the globe. Looks like as of late the bar has been raised to a very high level. Like him or not, people like Boyd pushed it. If you look past the drama crap, on a few of the TV shows, you will see some real old world craftsmanship shining through. Thank God Rat Rods seem to be going the way of the Dodo. What a black eye on the face of traditional Hot Rodding. Why can't cool stuff like this be on TV, instaed of the other BS?? Driven TV, from Set to Stun Productions is trying to bring it to us. Be patient. JT
Fortynut said it all these europeans learn how to do more with less WE AMERICANS are spoiled perhaps?
