That's cool, better mpg, I considered that on my 302 it just sucks that ford designed that intake manifold with out appeal in mind lol idk just my opinion

Wicked interior! Looking good! Are the knuckles removable in case of road rage???

Anyone know how strong the 49 rear end is? My car had the 6 banger. It Now has a 5.0 HO EFI motor out of a mustang. I have serious doubts but was hoping it was one of those parts that was way overbuilt in the 50's! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1414549425.468810.jpg

Not too strong. I snapped an axle in one years ago with an almost stock 239 Flatty. It broke right where the spline ended. Getting it out along with all the shavings was not fun! An 8" rear is a common swap for shoeboxes and they are usually more affordable than a 9".
The 8" should hold up to a mildly built SBF without trouble.

  10. Nice chop, wanta do another and while your at it bag it also?
As for the rear, can't help much there except many yaears ago I use to replace the universal joint quite regular, got so good at it I could

  11. something happened??? should finish above with I could replace one in 5 minutes.

I could do the bag set up, but probably could not get to the chop until about summer time!

Nice looking 49, looks dangerous to drive should you wreck with the knuckles and spear point. ;)
