I purchased the Buick in May 2013 off of the daughter of the 2nd owner who bought it in 1950/51 from the original owner (NC I believe) and brought it to California - the car has been in CA since then. Here's the pics loading the car for the trip from just north of San Fran (Marin County) to the OC.

another interesting fact... on the pic below, you see the bridge in the background? That's the trestle on which Clint Eastwood was standing in Dirty Harry when the guy was driving the school bus.

A great story behind the car and a great start to your build. The trestle in the background is way cool too. You can't go wrong with the LS engine either!

I'll be watching this one! I for one like the LS platform. Glad too see it hasn't gotten this thread deleted. If you don't get hammered too hard for it I might do a build thread on my car.

I don't know why this would be deleted...there's tons of threads on here with modern engines.

  11. Those cars are one of a kind (and hard to find), hopefully you keep the outside looking stock. I wish I still had mine as I would buy your old drivetrain.

    Thanks for the comments.

Yes I love the look/style of the '50 and want to keep that in tact. Basically the goal is to update/modernize the internals, but more than that really, going the high performance route. I will also bag and lower it as I think the lowered look on this car is killer.

I'm doing a frame off restoration. However I don't have unlimited funds so my bank account will need to recover. After boxing the frame, doing the driveline/suspension - I'll put it back together. Then when the funds save up again, I'll rechrome, repaint and reupholster - keeping the same look (no chop)

So as to not offend anyone, or worse get the thread deleted, I decided to only post pics going forward regarding the restoration work and not all the high performance components.

If you are interested in more detail, you can see that on a Facebook page I've setup at https://www.facebook.com/1950BuickSedanette?ref=aymt_homepage_panel

Thanks again for the vote of confidence - it's appreciated!

I've got a guy coming on Monday to buy it - I think he's getting a great deal with everything I'm throwing in and seems like it's going to a worthwhile project - a 49.

Frame is solid, no rust just a little dirty.

Had to rework the plates for the bags... wasn't happy as I noticed some flex, out with the old in with the new.

AWESOME BUILD! Keep it up. And ZERO complaints about the motor update from me. You wanna drive it, in todays traffic thats near mandatory.
