I think you have a small journal 327.

engine casting number 3782870 comes back as 62-67 327, car truck
head casting numbers 3814480 comes back as 60-67 327
intake casting numbers 3844457 comes back as 64-65 327 with WCFB

64 327 with 62 heads. The casting date on the block is A 29 4, which is Jan 19 1964. The engine assembly date stamped is 0201, which is Feb 1st. The S suffix for 1964 means. 327 4bbl full size car 10.5 compression Powerglide transmission.

Head casting date E 21 2 means May 21 1962, the casting number is for a small valve large chamber head as used on 283 and 327 from the early-mid 60s.

    Jim....

    One more question.
It appears as though the engine has never been apart??
    is this possible?

I doubt it. They originally used steel shim head gaskets, which usually rusted away after 20-30 years at most. and Chevy was pretty good about not using 2 year old heads on a new engine...
