Wow 27 pages and counting, there are others who spend way more time than is profitable building these cars. By the way those of you who try to pass off the sawdust under their cars as from sawing are just fooling themselves, the rest of us know its termites.

  3. Here's an interesting photo of a 1928 Chev on the track at the Milford proving grounds, which are 100 years old. Thought some of might find it interesting. Milford1-medium-700x455.jpg milford_proving.jpg

Hey guys hoping for a little advice. I keep burning up coils and can't figure it out. Points are all good, wiring and cables are good, I've been using 6 volt coils and from what I've read don't need a ballast resistor?

pretty sure that's a model A body. Door handle is in the wrong place for a Chev. and windshield posts and body lines are "A".

Here is my '35 std I have owned since 1972. I bought it as a gift (right) for my wife. A 22K mile original everything. I first built it with a sbc, power-glide, and an Olds rear, and stock frt susp. Somewhere along the line I changed my mind and it got a chopped and filled roof, a real L-89 396", a 400 TH, and an early 'vette rear. The only wood that got replaced was the body rails, most of the rest still has black paint. I was building it to give my Dad a ride 'cause that's what I was brought home in when I was born. Sadly he passed before it got finished. I haven't worked on it since. 100_1504.JPG 100_1500.JPG 100_1501.JPG 100_1508.JPG

  20. Cavman,
It would be great to see you working on it again and get it on the road. I'm sure your Dad would be riding with you in spirit!

  21. Took a ride on the back roads of New Hampshire over the past couple of weekends. Drove the 33 through a couple of old covered bridges. Here's a couple of pics. Changed the first one to black and white just like the old days.

Those are nice Tom. The whole idea of covered bridges interest me. Why did they do it? It would be more work and cost mote. Did people gather there during storms? Was it to protect the bridge structure from the elements. Snow load? There were never a lot of them in the West.

  23. Six Ball,
I'm told the covering was put there to protect the structural part of the bridge from the sun and weather extending it's life.

Does anyone know if a 32 4 door sedan frame is the same as a 32 3 window? I'm starting to think I should build a solid rolling chassis and transferring my body over. My brother has a 4 door project that I know he'll never even start on. I think I can talk him out of the chassis if it'll work for mine.
