Looking for missing history on this 1964 Savoy Stage III lightweight. The car campaigned in Texas possibly under the name Aggravation and was owned by a guy name Roland from Pasadena, TX. It has just over 1,500 miles on the odometer so it has had MANY passes on the car. It may have migrated from San Antonio as it was delivered new to Jack Rieger Chrysler Plymouth. Please SHARE THESE PHOTOS with your drag racing friends so we can potentially unravel it's history. The NHRA number was 4945 Note: There is Blue & Red pin-striping above the doors, on the deck lid & C pillars.
Found an older hunting trail of yours that might be of interest to others and give a few more hints to help you out. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=8227787
Yep, have talked to Joe Smith. The Fenner Tubbs car was converted to a 65 and later to an AFB car. He believes it was scrapped. The only other Texas cars that I know of are in the picture thread that Low Budget linked. Those cars are visually accounted for and match up with existing Serial Numbers from Darrell Davis' registry. By the look of things this car never made it to the big time "Fenner Tubbs, Hayden Proffitt" and may have stayed local it's whole life.
That looks like the remains of a division 4 permanent number on the window.I would try running it down that way.
I've been in touch with the headquarters down there and the number was reassigned to a car in the early 90's. They have no record of it before that.
Think theres any chance that the guy with the new number knows anything about who had the number before??? Longshot but hey ya never know.
could it be a factory red car....one's missing from Dallas - original owner died in 1969....the car disappeared after....
I don't know if they would help without a fee, but MCR Restorations, out of Wisconsin may be of help.
Cavman. They're just too far North to have known anything about this car. Someone in S. Texas is of the know of it.
