My first time on the track in 4 years, went out in the 3 rd round. The 283 carried us to a best of 7.53 in the 1/8 th. I mounted an ION Speed Pro on the cage and got some cool ride along video. Don't know why I waited so long between trips to the track. The first pass felt like 200 in the lights. As usual I had a blast at the drag strip.

283, I've looked at the video 4 times. How does this NOT get addictive? When I'm in my T Bucket, I'm cruising around looking for an unmolested or congested stretch of road to just, OPEN THIS BITCH UP.

T Buckets or any roadster without a rollbar, are turned away at most safe and legal strips. So, a dedicated vehicle is in order. From your experiences, what's the bottom line for a beginner to build a bare bones, just for fun, FED?

I'll try to answer your questions. Cost well for me it was cheap. The car itself a 1959 built by a local hot rodder named "Harry Hurst" was a gift from a friend it needed updated since it had not but on the track since the 60's. The 283 was a $25 lump built with used parts, the Glide was one my brother had, the rear Hal's were bought in the parking lot of a bar for $100 the front wires at a swap meet for $70. Fuel tank was a gift from a friend. It's not an eye ball flatting ride but it sure is a blast! And yes let those folks that think small cube engines are weak see it. I had 2.5 in it for a while and a 250 HP 171 cube Chevy 4 cyl they were both fun little engines to play with. The hand brake is tied to a swing pedal. I have other videos from the stands and one looking at the chute opening if you would like to see them.
