  11. Thanks, D-B, for those colorful FoMoCo illustration ads; another lost art!

I found and bought in 1979 this T body no more than a mile from where the old Oakland Speedway stood. Actually the Oakland speedway was in San Leandro. This was sitting in a vacant lot in San Lorenzo. Both are suburbs just south of Oakland. I've often wondered because of the welded door, metal tubing reinforcing and steering hole in the cowl if it might in a former life before someone started building it into a street rod might have been a track roadster and ran at Oakland. I look at every old track roadster picture I see but haven't been able to match it yet.

Yes I built it into my avatar.

It was just a block over from Hesperian and Leweling by the old cemetery that I found it. I'm sure I've driven it there many times.

swi66 - I just want to thank you for regularly posting so many excellent pics. There's a few other of us who contribute now and again, but you are the mainstay of this thread these days.
It is appreciated - greatly. Long may Vintage Shots From Days Gone By last and be loved.
    Cheers.

Uh...I'll pass on the scratched hoods or dented roof Mustangs.

I guess turtle deck roadsters were still readily available when they were racing in Oakland and they weren't down to using the fronts of touring cars yet. It really would be nice to see mine in a picture though.
