That's gonna be one mean looking 55 when it all comes together.

After messages and emails I figured I should post a clarifying update on here. I split ways with the speed shop about a month ago. I think I left off after doing brakes motor mounts and steering.. from that point on my man Eric Anderson took over, Steven (Road Farmer) is one of my favorite customers and friend, glad to see you are geared up and ready to finish this car, it is AWESOME. Eric is an up and comer and I know you guys will see a lot more from him, he has an insane focus and has a great humble character that helps him to constantly perfect his work.

Good luck guys. I want a ride next year when I come back to visit for Round Up

Great idea with the radiator mounting. This is one cool build.

 

Damn that mount set up looks slick...

 

It's all in the details, for sure...very, very nice.

 

Love where you are going with the car! Can't wait to see the finished product.

 

Got started on some polished stainless steel headers. Mandrel bends, welded and smoothed. Tubes, flanges, and collectors fully polished before welding together, then final polished after.

Painted my block WHITE too. You will always know if you have a LEAK!!! Looks GREAT! Mikey

 

Not a lot to report but the passenger side header is done, seats are mounted, and working on the "roll bar".

It's been a busy couple weeks for the '55 and it's getting dangerously close to being ready for bodywork/paint. We got the front end mostly wrapped up, finishing the inner structure and hinge setup for tilting. Got the Dzus-style fasteners sorted out at the lower rear fenders. The lights are mounted up front.

The Riviera seats are mounted and the mock roll bar is made - the car will not see any serious competition and is going to be a balance between drag and show, so the roll bar is a removable bolt in piece that will be chromed. Modified a reproduction Chassis Research gas pedal to work with the stock pivot location (this thing is HUGE!). Filled the heater control and radio openings in the dash. Gauges will be here soon to make the insert (those are printed out images in there now). I think green lines would be pretty cool.

Finally, we nixed the Buick rear axle for a heavy duty 9". The Buick axle was "period correct" but the 9" is far more stout and built to handle the power. It's also 2" narrower overall (58" hub-to-hub) to tuck the pie crusts just inside the fender lip, eliminating existing clearance issues. We kept the springs in the stock locations, it's snug but worked out just fine.

 

Damn that thing looks mean. You guys are killing it.

 

Looks awesome guys! I didn't realize that pedal was so big when I ordered it. It's ok, I'll be able to wear my big ole size 15 cowboy boots haha

 

I just hope it can bear the weight of that lead foot..
