Nice work, I've never been a big fan of the slant chops on shoeboxes but that car has some nice lines to it.

  5. Cool, that must feel pretty good. I'm hoping mine might see some sun this year too. It's been a long time.

Very aggressive chop! Looks like Tex Avery's idea of a speeding car. I mean that as a compliment.

Gotta figure out the rear seat ...
Gonna be sitting on the floor
With a helmet on for safety
    Any ideas?

I'm expecting to have to deal with the same situation. I like the stock rear seat but I haven't come up with any good ideas as far as modifying it to work.

  17. If you have a rear seat in there it'll probably have to be just for show haha. No headroom! I got a buddy with a pretty similarly chopped 53 Plymouth and he can't fit a seat back there. He just made a box back there and put his speakers in it.

Alright so I'm in the garage today taking out the hump in the hood of my shoebox
Trim fit bend lots of messing about...
Tack it all in place .....start to weld and
She's oozing molten lead all over my gravel pan.....not to mention my shoes
My question is there is a lot of lead on the peak of the hood ....If I can tack it well from the backside will I be able to use all metal to fill the seam on the front
It's a mess but seems solid
    Any help

You will have to clean the lead away from the welding seam and do not breath the fumes during welding as they are poison. But yes, it can be done.

    Moving on to the inside
Because of the length of my 300 in line six .I had to recess the firewall 4 inches or the water pump would hit the radiator
    1409319493445.jpg 1409319510034.jpg
Had to move inside cut out the floor and build a drives haft tunnel with my knee and some 16 gage sheet metal
    1409319586970.jpg 1409319611665.jpg 1409319631861.jpg
Have to mention it was also 97 degrees and lost about 5 lbs

    Inside
Just thought I'd post a pic of rear bumper
Not sure what it came off of ...All I know is it said "1951 rare" on it be for I chopped 10 inches outta it ....it may be upside down I have no idea....
Could be some rare artifact from the first tucker torpedo for all I know....
    I like it regardless

  27. Looking good. I like the bumpers, no idea what the rear one is but it works with the Chevy bumper on the front.

16ga seems pretty heavy for that gravel pan. I use 18ga for most things.

    Keep chipping away at it.

I've always built everything from 16 gage ...welds good bends good ...and oh yeah my sheet metal guy sells it to me for $40 bucks a sheet..(4×8) he wants almost $90 for 18 gauge.....
