I have seen postings about old aircraft before. If this is too OT it can be deleted and not hurt me or I will delete it if told. I searched and didn't see a reference to it.

He says he isn't a collector but sure looks like one. Selling off his warbirds. Be sure to catch the video at the end.

  7. He owns the holy grail of aircraft. And he knows it. A P51 is every bit as sexy as a 32 Ford roadster.

In my next life I wan'na play with real planes. I'm sure Meeks knows about these but I don't remember if he collects English or German planes. Oil money can afford oil money toys. I'm happy to see these guys preserve aviation history. I love airplanes enough to watch them regularly on Ebay even though I have never owned one or had a pilots liscense.

That was awesome. If any of you ever get a chance to go see old warbirds in action, do it. You will have chills runnin' through you. The sound of a high speed pass by a P-51, B-17, or F4U is something you won't forget.

That was great and he is one cool guy. Thanks for posting. I recently took a ride in the B-17 owned by the Collings Fondation. It was an awesome experience.

Thanks for posting, I like a lot of others on here have a serious interest in war planes of WWII and WWI. I rather like his philosophy too in that he is pricing them up in the market where the guys or organizations who do buy them will also most likely be able to swing full restorations. Hell, he could make another fortune just by offering 20.00 tours to airplane freaks. We would be there by the busload.

  22. Great read!!!! He reminds me a lot of my grandfather who raised me. He was born barely 10 years after the War between the States ended and lived long rnough to see men go into space. He was the type of person who;if he didn't like you let you know it in no uncertain terms. He taught me one thing that has stayed with me all of my life:I you are not learning something each day you are probably dead.
He had a similar experience that Terry Adams did: In the early 1900's he worked as a mechanic maintaining cars for a wealthy Boston gentleman. The man had mostly French cars( a Darracq and a deDion-Bouton to name two)but also had a Stevens-Duryea.When my grandfather found out he was selling the Stevens he approached him about purchasing it;telling him he would like to buy it but couldn't pay for it all at once.Much to his surprise the gentleman gave him the car! He told my grandfather that he deserved to have it after his faithful service. I still have a large picture of my grandmother and grandfather in their newly acquired vehicle circa 1910.

I would very much like to know this person (glad I am not saying “have known”), he has done so much interesting things, accumulated much wealth but is still his own man. most rich are not like that. I feel his sadness of loosing a son as he did and am glad he has grandchildren to leave his estate to, I hope he has many years left with them. Thanks for sharing the story and video with us.
