Event Coverage Jalopy Showdown Drags 2014 - Pics

The weather was perfect on Saturday for the annual Jalopy Showdown Drags. Lots of cool cars, and good racing. Thanks to Larry and crew for putting on another great event.

 

Fantastic day...it was kind of a drag race version of Hershey, too much good stuff to absorb! Complete retro racing overload!

What an adventure! We left Brockway PA around 1PM in our 50 chevy pickup. 322 to state college was a little crazy. We could only do 50-55 MPH, traffic was flying by at 65+. Finally made it down there around 5 or so friday night. Setup camp on the far side of the track since we have never been on that side, watched some Friday night drags. Afterwards we noticed that we were the only ones camping on that side of the track, so we moved, met a few guys that let us stand around their fire and get warm. Thanks to all of them. Cold night sleeping, got up and thank god the opened the stand a little early for us so we could get some much needed coffee.

Anyway, The show was spectacular! Lots of sweet rides there. Ton of fun racing and cars to gawk at. Thanks to Larry, who came to our truck to say hello when i was working on the alternator that was coming loose. And thanks to Beaver Bob. Will be back next year. With a tent warmer!

Had a great time as usual! I was planning on bringing our 57 metropolitan but a broken hand nixed that idea. I wanted to give big thank to Larry for putting a great show as always, plus the owners of the Old Crow for letting my son and girlfriends son sit in there car to get pics and to the gentlemen in the light blue ford pickup that took my son and i down the track at the end of the day. I dont think i've ever seen a bigger smile on my boys face. There is no doubt he is hooked?
