Indeed, and especially since coverage of a crash wasn't the primary reason for the article. Gary

That is a good article, very well written and interesting. It's good to see that they discussed Save the salt in it too.

It's like the guy really listened, observed, and understands what he is writing about. A rare bird in the world of "journalism" today. Great job.

Here's why the article is so good.

    Lindsay Brooke
Lindsay Brooke is Senior Editor of Automotive Engineering International magazine, published by SAE International and read by vehicle engineers worldwide. He is also author and voice of SAE’s “Eye on Engineering” radio spot, heard Monday mornings on Detroit’s WJR 760-AM.

Brooke has written extensively about vehicles, automotive technology, manufacturing, and history for 30 years. He held various editorial positions at Automotive Industries magazine for 15 years, ultimately rising to chief editor.

Over the years Brooke’s freelance writing on automotive topics has appeared in The New York Times, AutoWeek, Popular Science, Popular Mechanics Online, Cycle World and other periodicals. He is the author of five books covering the history of Triumph motorcycles, Ford’s iconic Model T, and development of the Chevrolet Volt.

Brooke’s work has twice received the annual Jesse H. Neal Award, presented by the American Business Press for outstanding journalism. He has also received numerous awards from the Detroit Press Club, the International Automotive Media Assoc., and other professional groups.

Two brief but useful career detours have helped Brooke expand and deepen his industry knowledge and experience. He was senior auto industry analyst at CSM Worldwide from 2002-2005, specializing in technology forecasting for various auto-industry clients. As an analyst he was widely quoted by The Wall St. Journal, National Public Radio, Forbes, Fortune, and other media. In 1995 he was recruited by Chrysler Corp. as manager of Engineering and Technology public relations, returning to journalism a year later.

Brooke holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in journalism and communications from Shippensburg (PA) University. He is a member of SAE International and the Automotive Press Association.

On weekends he can be found riding his 2007 Triumph Bonneville and 1970 Honda CB100 and wrenching on his 1947 Willys CJ2A jeep.

It also should be pointed out that Mr. Brooke wrote the article BEFORE the event took place.
