I was at an auction today had 2 Kelsey Hayes magstars. Here is what is on the rims. 15x6 L, 11 65. It also has the Kelsey Hayes logo stamped. On the back of the rim it has K70812. The bolt pattern is 5 on 5. What does this fit? Thanks Steve

Were some Ford 9 inch rear ends 5 on 5?

A big no on that one unless someone had special axles made. Jim

I think big Mercury's and Lincolns in the 1970s used some 9" rear ends with the 5 on 5 bolt pattern. Pretty sure Mark V Lincolns were that way.

But those are much later than when the wheels were made..

    Well, sort of.

Ford did make a 9-3/8" rear, which is the same housing, notched a little, clear the ring gear, and a different center section.

Those had a 5-on-5" wheel bolt pattern.

    Those are 9-3/8" rears.

  8. Shelby Mustang MagStar 1's were 15 by 5 on 4.5", which is what kick started the style.......lucky you. Some will have the 5 spokes with a ridge, some will have them without the ridge. Sears sold a bunch of these wheels.....since the 5 on 4.5" were basically Shelbys to use. Available in 14" and 15". Also.....the early versions....which yours seem to be (11-65).....there is a chrome outer rim with a riveted magnesium center. Laters would come with a polished aluminum trim ring......that would cover the rim....1969-70 Mercury Marauder....pretty rare. About 5000 made in that configuration. I can't remember if the Merc Marauder was 5 on 5....but if they are the Sears models....they made them to fit many different makes.

[IMG]Sears....no ridge....found here on HAMB. You can change centers, just like a lot of wheels

Either way, they are cool wheels. Pretty much within the birth age of mags as we know it.

A friend of mine had a set of those on his late 50's Studebaker pickup.
