This is my first car a 1954 Chevrolet 210 sedan stock RHD, I'm only 14 and I have been into old cars for a couple of years now and my uncle knew that and was on the look out for a good first project for me, it was found by my uncles mate for $2000, which is a lot of money to a fourteen year old so i needed to beg and plead my mum for the money, in the end i got the money and was on a road trip to pick it up.
The day i first saw it...

  4. Nice. Does that mean it's running? Looks like it's going to take some work and patience, but it has potential to be a very cool first car.

Congrats, looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you but it will all be worth it! Good to hear that kids your age are interested in the "old" stuff. Keep us posted.

The plan is to, lower it a little, put on some steelies and white walls, have the 250 inline six in it and a turbo 350 auto, paint it as close to Bermuda green as we can get it, have a simple interior in the future, punch some louvers in the hood and then just cruise in it

What are your plans? (EDIT: You beat me to it!)

And good on your mum and your uncle!

I want to pull off the torque tube and put in a diff so that's going to be changed and then hook it all together with an auto that i need to buy just because i don't really want a manual, and have the 250 from an old truck, which i need mounts for. so its not together yet but i'll get it together, soon

  11. Congrats on your first ol' Chev! I dig those '53 & '54s. Looking forward to your progress. I'm drawn like a moth to a flame whenever I see a '53/'54 running chrome reverse wheels and whitewalls. Something about it, looks perfect on those.

Is the Bermuda green the original color that the car appears in? Any considerable rust on the car you have to deal with?

It's going to need one new sill and it has some rust in some unusual places, the car was actually originally blue and had been painted green but i like the bermuda green color and have decided to paint my car like it because it is a stock 54 colour

  13. The car and it's bits all look pretty straight. For as neglected & forlorn as it looked sitting where you found it, it doesn't appear to be in bad shape other that what appears to be weathering & varmints. Your bumpers, grill, etc appear in good shape and eligible for rechroming. Didn't notice any major dents, etc in the sheetmetal.

no it's all really good metal and that's what astonished me was that after we dragged it out of where we brought it and cleaned it up everything looked really good

  15. don't knock the original drive train too much, the torque tube and a manual are a fun thing to have. It will make you a better driver for it. looks like a ton of fun

Love the 53-54's and I'm a Ford guy. On my list for a daily driver when my o/t car bites it.

That's a great start Daniel. I bought my first car at 15 for $50. I worked hard, learned slot and turned it in to something. There are going to be people who will tell you it can't be done, just remember that they are just lazy vision less haters. Stick to it and you will have something you can be proud of.

Thanks everyone for the support, i really appreciate it. Today i did my first paint stripping for the car on some of the window trims which was very interesting.

  23. Striping, as in pin striping? or stripping, as in removing paint?

First car I bought was a 53 210 2 door for $35 when I was 14 also. It was the same green as on yours. It was on my paper route and bought it with my paper route money. Long ago but not forgotten ! Best of luck with yours.

  26. Great first car, good luck and your plan sounds fine. When will you be able to drive it...leagally that is

i get my learners permit when i turn 16 but i don't really want to drive it around until i get my proper licence, so i've got a good 6 years until i can drive it

  28. That'll give you some time to work the bugs out. :D

I don't know what I'm laughing about, I've been working on my car for more than 4 years with no end in sight.

  29. Good for you boy , get at it !
