    Hey guys,

Here is another update of pics for you all to check out. This is what i have done since my last post a couple weeks ago. Still keepin busy on the car and its comin along pretty good. Ok enough chit chat, here are the pics...

Here is my grill insert i built using 3/16 CR round bar, looks a bit better then the original unit, even tho the original did have some serious "character".

Cuttin out some rust in prep for a patch panel on my driver side door.

Patch panel all cleco'd in place and fittin great.

Here shows the new factory like fold over on the patch panel
    [IMG]

And here it is after grinding is completed.

Next i decided to shave the handles, gets rid of all the looky Lou's out there that like to open up doors and have a look when they don't own the car themselves...

Here i have cut out the area to replace, did it this way rather then tryin to straighten where the handle was originally, as it was pretty dented in there.

Here is the new piece all tacked in place.

Here is the finished view of it all grinded smooth as well.

The next thing i have been workin on is the grill shell mounting tabs
Here I added a frame gusset to base the mount off of. The mounts will be taller and kinda beefy because i have no room for any support rods to run back to the firewall as the original had.

Next I built an upright to go on here which gets welded to this plate.

I then built some vertical braces that get bolted to those brackets.

Now with the shell in place they dont look near as big as they are rather hidden. Strong, yet detailed.

Here is another view of other side.

Looks pretty good. Be sure to seal that door patch overlap seam up good on the inside so you don't have to go back in 10 years and fix the rust out again.

Here you see how my roof is now fitting in the car. Roof is a trimmed down 78 Volare Wagon roof turned backwards. It wont have the chrome strips on it when i am done tho, it will be just smooth. They are only still there to add support till the inside supports are made.

Here is a lil stand back shot now that i have some of more done to it.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I try to create details that will stay timeless and not "date" the car to a particular style of the time when it was built. Then its never really out of style.

Well the strips will go, tho it does give a place to tie luggage...hmmm...no they will go!! I have always envisioned a smooth roof, all shiny and smooth. Nope not a Buick motor, its a Pontiac Sprint 6, Overhead cammer from a 67 Firebird.
