What do you think about this, i would like to run it, in a 30's looks model A racer. NOS high compression aluminum head, NOS BURNS intake, new stromberg 97's, i found a 81's stromberg, and seems to be better for this motor, NOS VERTEX magneto, cal custom air filter....
Starter or push start ? If you're going to use a starter, you'll be happier with a Mallory dual point distributor. Unless you're doing extensive internal mods, no more than a 3/4 race cam with adjustable lifters. Have steel valve seats installed, and use stainless steel valves.
Pure banger porn! Love seeing these under-rated engines getting the credit they finally deserve!! Here's mine (mocked up - in progress);
Thanks guys...! Onething's missing, the camshaft and adjustables lifters, still the original one, where i will can buy these set up for street racing used...
It's a GAZAL buissonnet high compression aluminum head, a special construction from a french motor specialist who worked for citroen in the 30's, i don't know more about this aftermarket parts builder...
The Stromberg 81 carb is too small for even a stock B motor. I think it will run much better with a 48. The 81 is made for a 136 cu. in. engine, not a 200.5 inch one.
I dunno about that...lots of folks run Winfield "B" and "BB" carbs (which flow somewhere between an 81 and a 97) with larger cams and don't have problems...
Nice work. I have duel 81 stroms and all Thomas race equipment on my hoped up A. And I drive it like I stole it. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
the 81 is bigger and better than the stock carb, but if you are going to race, it is not enough. i run three 81's on my cyclone flathead.
What do you think about this, i built different molds for the 4 banger, the first is a finned valves cover side for sand casting, the second mold is a dual two's intake manifold in wax for the lost wax shell casting process need finitions but it's sounds good, and two small fuel distributors in wax too... The furnace is in my backyard, waiting for shell casting stuffs and petrobond sand ( good casting stuffs is hard to find in france) Here's the picts
i have a wormed A in my truck, have a winfield intake manifold w/flathead 6 cyl carb[cant rem. #] 223+- cu in. same bore as win. intake, runs good. 60 over, Crane #302 cam, Snyder head, mdl. B distributer, balenced crank & eng bal., v-8 clutch& pp, 25# off flywheel, B/W overdrive, 4.11 rear. got Safty tubes and and i'm not scaired the brakes are good and the tires are fair
This is my other banger, a 1931 with a Crower cam, inserts, counterweight crank and a pair of the the English 97's If you don't go first class, your heirs will!
7:1 Lion Speed head, New, not reground Model B cam, Pertronix, alternator, timing set with a timing light and a degree wheel, twin SU carbs on a stainless header, fully synchronized 3 speed with overdrive, SS valves, adjustable cam followers
