I am not surprised at tevintage's observation. I looked at Spyker's videos of both events and the posted pics of the Tyrods event on the HAMB and mentally compared my impression. In the interest of the NHRA and NED keeping this event for the forseeable future, you gotta wonder how the show/shine event could get a bigger draw? Perhaps offer clubs a package discount to bring x number of cars? And a number of folks even as late as Labor Day appeared to be unaware of the event around my town, although there was a poster in the pizza joint. And I would imagine Yankee frugality kicks in too, but even for the one day $25 show/shine pass, where else do you get that much entertainment if you are a real gear head? Not to mention the chance to see guys you don't see all year long and swap lies? Just saying.

Beautiful photo work! I liked the old beat up B/R with the Poncho w/6 97's best.
That's the way we built them back in the early days before all the "rules for pussy's" :)
We all thought we couldn't be killed in the late 50's. Some of us survived. :D

Show and shine cost for the event is rather steep add to that the number of other events taking place each weekend and you end up with more than one problem to solve. Last years event I thought had more restored race cars and the number of Cackel cars was greater also. Possibly the change in days was a factor for the reduction in restored cars since long distance attendees were able to head home last year on Sunday since the event was over on Saturday. I know for me last year showing two cars at a cost of $75.00 each plus the expense involved in towing two cars the hotel and food cost things add up fast for sure.
I'm sure the event will get bigger in the years to come. Plus I hope the entrance gate long lines can be moved along faster so we can get in the place faster.

Thanks for posting! I had no idea so many of these classics have either been restored or re-created...the last I saw of Ivo's funny car was the body rotting away in a clump of bushes...so many memories of the past, wish I could have been there...

Nice pictures. There's some cool looking altered wheelbase cars in the Northeast. If the AWB racers could be talked into hauling their cars to the Meltdown next year, we could have a great FX class there.
