Today I swapped out the red 15" wheels with very old and dangerous tires for these 15" Merc rims with WW Firestone which I borrowed from the Roy Desbrow pickup to pass inspection. Fronts are 6:70, rears are 8:20. Looks like it needs to come down and inch all round but as the springs haven't been reversed yet that shouldn't be a problem.

These were the rear shocks fitted! Anyone want to own up to this? ;-))

Anyway they had to go. I used a pair of lower mounts from http://www.purehotrods.com/ which are good and cut down a pair of 1948 Ford front upper mounts and turned them upside down for the top mounts. The end result looks factory. The shocks are So-Cal.

    Fronts also had to go!

I used a nice pair of Isuzu(!!) shocks from the rear of a 1990s light truck/van. They were NOS, cheap and had nicely welded on steel upper sleeves. The rings holding the bushings are also nicely shaped not just a plain ring. I modified a pair of F1 upper shock mounts and switched the lower streetrod type mounts left to right to provide clearance for the steering arm. These lower mounts will be ditched when I restore it properly later.

I took my youngest son, Henry, out for a ride in the Fordor. His first ride in a '32. Had a grin from ear to ear. Done about 100 miles with no problems so far. Looks like we're ready for Finsterwalde!

  5. That car is awesome!

If you were to P.M. me the name of the Arab billionair I may either know them or know someone who does. If they were from the U.A.E. that is. Any other Middle-Eastern country I would not have connections to.

Got the car finished just in time for Finsterwalde Head Banging. I think it looks better with the hood on and the Merc hupcaps look really fifties.

Good job Ed! It definitely looks better than when you took that long drive to pick it up. I like how it looks a little mobster and late fifties hot rod at the same time.

Okay your car might just have been stripped by "butcher" he was out here in Arizona and Von Dutch and Butcher did a lot of partying together out here in Arizona.... Ive seen a few cars and i mean a very few cars done by him out here in Arizona, the same goes for Kafka. Very nice car best of luck

I took it to Finsterwalde and ran a 11.80 1/8 mile with it and surprised myself stupid! Ran 1 second quicker than my buddy with his twin 94 equiped Model-A fenderless coupe. I don't know where all the power came from but it pulled like a train. Gearing is perfect as I could hold on to second for the entire 1/8th.

Looks like a nice car that is in the right hands. I like the Merc wheels and WWW's and the new shocks all look clean. A few more details sorted and this should be a really nice period car.

An 11.80 1/8 th is something like a mid 18's quarter (18.6 - 18.7, something like that) Not too shabby for a full bodied flatty powered sedan.

    Hi Ed,
I know its quite fast, but 1/8 and 1/4 should be tested with a
    Flagstarter or a christmas tree

Mart, i tried for this year but failed, but will be there next year!

Finally got the 15" F100 wheels painted and the new Firestones fitted: 6:50 front and 8:20 rears. This is the final look. (The '50 Merc wheels were borrowed from the Roy Desbrow Pickup.)
