Purchased by the second owner at the ripe old age of 14, in Castro valley Ca. for the tidy sum of a summers worth of lawn mowing, for the widow of his recently deceased neighbor in 1957. He and his brother combined forces, and began working together to build what you see here today. With the intent of building a reliable driver, race car, and GNRS contender, they spent countless hours in the shop, and even more hours in Vic Hubbards speed shop buying the parts that make this piece of history what it is today. all the hard work and attention to detail coupled with countless trips to the chrome shop would explain why this car won its class in the GNRS in 1963, and was runner up in 1964, along with amassing several more show wins, and over 20 more trophys' during its campaign in the bay area of California from 1963-1964. this coupe also quickly drew the attention of Rod and Custom magazine, where it earned a spread in the July 1963 edition of the magazine. This coupe is powered by a 286 cu. in. Mercury flathead, topped off with Edmunds heads, 3, 48 stromberg carbs, on an Edelbrock intake. Spark is supplied buy a Joe Hunt magneto, pushing the power past the scatter-shield, to the t-10 4 speed transmission, managed by a Hurst shifter, and straight to the Halibrand quick change, sporting chromed '40 bells.Up front the dropped chromed '32 heavy axle is managed by an F1 steering box, and goes down the road flawlessly. The car will come with all trophys, and a veritable mountain of documentation, and pictures from its glory days. It is unchanged and remains today as it did in 1964 when it won the GNRS. This car does not dissapoint and you could spend hours admiring the attention to detail, and all the subtle modifications to this time capsule. $40,000 OBO, or possible trade for early rigid Harley Davidson. Direct any questions or inquiry to Dave at 206-499-9016 or e-mail at [email protected]. please don't message me here, I still haven't quite figured out the new format.
