Love em! I pulled a 59L flathead, 39 box and rear out of a real nice one a few years ago and put it in my 41 tudor sedan. The guy butchered it and put a chevy 350/350 in it and all that baloney. Wish i could have bought the whole car! The look real good with just a drop axle, big n little black wall bias plies and black paint. The bosses car is a perfect example!

Here are two 2drSeds that I have chopped for customers,both are 40's,very similar as '39 bodys ,but a year newer.after looking at most of the cars in this post I thought some pics of chopped ones as compared to the many that are not chopped is an interesting comparison....surely not everyone wants a stocker.
Both were 3" chops.....

Hey Bubba, I just bought this car and it's currently being shipped over to me in the UK. John who i bought it off said the distributor had been rebuilt and there was a video of it running somewhere, i'm guessing you did the work and posted the video? any information on the car would be very welcome.

I have a 39 standard sedan. It's not chopped. I did consider it. I had a friend who did. The only plus was moving the rear window down for better visibility. The rear trunk lid is cut down as well. He cut the top into 4 sections to accomplish the task and keep the roof lines. My car has 1940 headlight cans. The 1939 Ford has great art deco lines like most cars in that era. The front hood was modified to deal with the front tip of the front hood. Take your time deciding on any modifications. I remember when nobody wanted the standard sedan. Some people put 1940 front clips on the 39.

 

It is definitely one of the coolest Ford`s ever. Both design and engineering is fantastic. I like it almost original, just lowered at maybe a fast flathead. It is both a great Ford V8, and a very cool hot rod. Everybody should be in love with them. Unfortunately, it is not my car in the picture, but it is a good example to show how tough they are.

Mark I don't remember your sedan. I'm not surprised that is was a kool ride...... I've not seen a 39 Aussie slopper before. What a kool foundation for a kustom. It would be kool to see one in person...... @Highlander Love the stance and the attitude.

 

Straykat, thanks, but I actually have to raise it just a bit. Already played with it, won't really lose the 'tude, but much more user-friendly for S.E. Mich roads. We have holes big enough for families to move in to in some of our roads...

 

I noticed it was real low, I just hate having to raise them up. I raised the back of my Merc up about an inch and to me it looked like a foot. Lol! Kool thing no one noticed but me. I believe in driving them to so I know you will get it will still look kool when you are finished.
