Does anyone have a solution to installing a fuel pump eccentric on a Hemi with la timing chain, there is nothing to keep the eccentric from rotating, has anyone used a different key way or modified one in some fashion to solve this? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
trying to remember...think I slid the key part way in where it would still hold the thing & lock-tighted everything.
Yah the key seems to need to extend another 1/4 inch or so to work, but you can't slide the keyway at all, I thought about cutting the end of the cam and installing a longer key but not really sure I want to do that. I guess I should have mentioned its a desoto 341, not sure if any of them are different Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Typical problem with the LA chain set although some folks seem to get by. I just drill a hole in the face of the gear for a hardened still dowel. Use the eccentric as a guide for location and use a bearing retaining compound along with a press fit. .
