That's quit the list. Are the frame reinforcements and the export/monte Carlo bars really necessary for just a lowered car. I know it's worth it if you plan to race the car but seems a lot for cruzin

I always have wondered why the bottom third of the radiator was covered by the bumper on Falcons...

My 60 Falcon Wagon only the Body is stock She has a 347 around 500 Hp Comp Thumpr Cam 521/507 Lift Roller Engine a TKO 5sd Trans and a Currie 31 spline 389 geared Truetrack 9" rear end. A Strange seamless 3" Chrome-Moly Driveshaft with Solid 1350 U- Joints. A Rod&Custom MII rack and pinion that I had to do some work to so it would fit. Custom motor mounts so I could move the engine back a couple inches. 4 wheel power disc brakes and Strange Adjustable coil overs on all corners. A custom 4 link setup and custom sub frame connectors. Custom transmission crossmember and mount. Doug's Try-Y Headers 2 1/2" Flowmasters Delta Flow 40 Dual Stainless Steel exhaust system system with an X pipe. I used a lot of parts from a 95 Mustang. A trick price I used was the brake and clutch assembly out of the 95 Mustang after some modifying of the brake peddle to clear the steering column it bolt right in giving me a clutch assembly that I can get parts for anywhere. I have learned a lot Building this Falcon if anybody is Building anything close to it I sure wish you would tell me what you have done. I would love to here your stories so I can learn even more and any info I can help you with I'm more than willing to share with you ask away. Thanks Veach

Well, finally did some things to my wagon. First pic is of the stock ride height. Then did the 3" blocks in back, and shelby drop w 1-1/2 coils out up front. Next I got stock 63 lenses, sunk them in behind perforated aluminum. And last, I removed all horizontal bars in the vertical lines on the grill. More small changed to come.

They are 15x7" American racing with 205/70 tyres
Whilst it looks great, it is a little too low at the front, power steering hoses very close to the ground and it bottoms the suspension over pot holes(we have plenty here!) I intend to get another pair of gt springs and cut a little less than last time

  16. Earlier this year, Dennis Varni shipped his 1961-63 Ford Falcon GT to South Africa to participate in the Endurance Rally Association's fifth "Classic Safari Challenge".

The grueling 5000-mile, 26-day road race began in Cape Town and roared through Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and back to Cape Town, South Africa ... where Dennis (& his wife Kathy) finished in first place ahead of 30 other competitors!

Here's some pics of the Varni's Falcon:

Man, thats cool. IIRC, Hot Rod did an article on swapping a y-block into a falcon almost as soon as they came out.

George, I saw in one of your posts that you like the 64-65 body style. I have had this one for 43 years, and it's a factory 4 speed with the original T-10 and stock shifter. 2014-01-25 093201.jpg

Marty, if you have more pics, (like front/rear 3/4 for instance) I'd love to see them. If you want, you can pm them to me, or post them here. Its funny, I did the math, you bought that car right around the same time I started to really get hooked on them.

This is incredibly cool. Whenever anyone mentions Africa Safari Challenge, it makes me think of Erik Carllson...

George, the tires are 205-70R 14's. Here are the other views, it's just an "old white car", driven by an "old white guy". IMG_4935.JPG IMG_4936.JPG IMG_4937.JPG
