$60 a side sounds good. Think about it they are already off and you can get anything worth anything for under a hundo. :). Btw I have the same year/color wagon as you and the funny thing is it's sitting on my trailer. Lol

I just scored a running 1966 7-main 200, and two 1980 250 heads, for peanuts. There might be a little more HP and TQ coming up, for my baby bird.

That's funny cause I scored a 67' 200 yesterday with c4 trans got the spindles too but as you already know they won't fit. I figure I'll sell them for something to off set the cost of the ones I'll need. Feeling blessed thank you Lord.
Not sure how much peanuts is but I thought a hundred bucks wasn't bad.

I am going to do a mild build on the 200. The 250 head already has hardened seats, and flows better than early heads. I am planning on milling the intake log, so the carburetor can get better flow, versus an adapter. Might do stainless valves too. Bottom end will be fresh stock, with ARP fasteners.

...Boil the fuel in your carb! That's the first thing I disconnect on a Ford six, but bear in mind I wear a jacket at 70 degrees, too.

Alright falcon guys I have some questions some of you will say is stupid but o well. I WANT to keep 4 lug for the rear end. I. Trying to wiegh my options. As far as ive can tell a 8.8 rear out of a 5.0 87-92 might be too wide. 69-74ish? Maverick 4 lug 8 " can they handle a built 302? Some were 7.5 rears. Seem to be within specs of a stock rear. I am trying to do this in a 63 falcon any help or criticism is welcome. I already have my wheels and they are 4 lug and id like to be a bit different and not switch to 5 lug.

    The Mustang 8.8 is 4-on-4-1/4", not 4-on-4-1/2".

The 8.8 pumpkin is large, and will keep you from lowering very far, before having to do surgery. Many models of 8.8 have an offset pinon, necessitating a new tunnel too.

    I run a 1991 Ranger 8.8 in my '60.

Getting it in there required work.

It is 1/2" wider than stock. I re-drilled it for 4-lug, and turned down the registers to fit stock wheels.

Anybody here have a 61 that they removed fenders on? I'm trying to find out if there's another VIN under the top fender bolts like on other years/models. My firewall-to shock tower braces were removed about 40 years ago when it was cut up for a drag car. Lately, i've been thinking about making it street legal and would like to be able to show the Highway Patrol a VIN on the body. -rick

The Ranger 8.8 is offset. I sectioned the right rear floor pan by 3-1/2", and rolled out a new tunnel.

That accommodates the offset, the 3-1/2" driveshaft, and the pinion flange, all at a 3" drop.

The fenders are off on my 61 and yes the vin is there. It's on the drivers side a little forward of the hood hinge. I would have checked earlier but I was watching Bonanza.

Looking at it in the light of day, the vin is on both sides of the car.

Okay, I know, I have been falling down on the job. I owe two pictures:

Weber 32/36 DFEV, hooked up to the stock throttle linkage:

And, my floor mods for the Ranger 8.8, 3-1/2" driveshaft, offset pinion, lowered car:

Been looking over my falcon trying to figure out a stereo system even though its done on the list of what NEEDS to be done.
I would like a vintage look with no indications that the stereo has been upgraded.
Thinking about something like this for the head unit as mine is perfect.
    http://www.randbvintageautoradio.com/RandBVintageAutoRadio/Radio_Conversion.html
Then mount either the docking system and or USB and AUX ports in the ashtray.

But not seeing a whole lot of options for speakers. Maybe fiberglass kick panels for the front but what about the rear for wagons?

I have ABS kick panels in my '60 sedan. 6-1/2" rounds there, and in the package tray. Two amps, under the package tray, and a 12" sealed-enclosure subwoofer in the trunk.

I have a nice metal box under the dash, with a modern radio.
