    That yard (Horopito) is now a petrol head's tourist attraction.. It hasn't changed too much over time..
     
  2. Most of the cars above have gone now, but today is still of interest with over 20 acres and the large buildings full of cars and parts. You can see it on Google Earth, Horopito is just north of Raetihi on State Highway 4. If you can find the New Zealand film Smash Palace, it was filmed at the yard in about 82. JW

  8. That '60 Frontenac wagon looks like a Falcon. Did Canadian Falcons get the Frontenac name?

    The Frontenac was really just a rebadged Falcon for the Canadian market. The grille was different along with various emblems. It was a one year only model that was sold through Mercury dealerships. The Comet replaced it in '61.

    About 13 years ago i discovered this panel truck sittin on my grandpas good friends farm up north. And i used to play in it as a kid everytime i was up north for hours on end. No that im 17 i finally got it out. Im going to restore it frame off.

    It sets in the petrified forest national park , close to where route 66 used to pass through the park.
    Thought someone might know what it was.

    Ya, it probably isn't fair to call them "sitting and rotting" either since they are owned by collectors who actually restore their stuff.....eventually.

    Here's one that probably will just rust into the ground.
