Old Car VINs...is it true or urban legend?

    maybe he gets tired of the confusion that it always causes?

    Did you find the number on the rear frame rail?

    For what its worth I know on Harleys the Vin is on the motor only until 1970... Which really sucks for guys who have frames and no motors!

    The chassis # on my 46 Olds was a partial of the engine #. The engine however had an additional prefix and suffix to identify YOM and hydramatic. The body # from data plate is different as it's an early production run (August 1945). United Auto Worker's strike prevented production from 21st November 1945 to 1st April 1946.
