I found this Chris Craft ad, thought you people might enjoy it. Bet that boat would be worth more than that asking price now though!
saw this the other day....had a name I wrote down - begins with an H ?....looked like a 49/50 Merc dash in it....
Higgins was the name of the boat.....center mounted motor like a CC...didn't lift the engine cover...
For all you boat guys, thought someone might be interested in this boat up for auction. http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctionview.cgi?lid=2055643&kwd=boat&zip=29649&category=0

YEEEEAH..BABY....ATTA BOY 57DEN....... not so old ,but way kool......gotta appreciate a good ole chris-craft though!
Thread is going dormant here. Would love to see some more members boats. I put my boat in the Lake Oswego Classic boat show this last weekend in Oregon. Some amazing mahogany craft out there. If you like the old wood stuff, it's the place to be. 1956 Crestliner Viking Deluxe The latest mini project on my boat, the control box. Started out like this.... And now... Just a bit of paint and polish.
View attachment 2735772 Thank you !! I named the boat after my wife Jenifer. She absolutely hates when people call her Jenny. So I named the boat "oh Jeny" lol Jeff Styles did the gold leaf & pinstripe work. He does lots of work for Jay Leno & others. It's a tribute and a poke Thanks again for the kind words ! All the best, Brian
My dad bought this 1956 Chris Craft in 1959 and I learned to ski behind it. Lots of torque for skiing. I can remember helping him build a boathouse and laying down small gage mining track into the water with an electric power winch to haul it in. He never left it in the water overnight at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. I now own it and it still has the original Chrysler flathead 6 with dual single barrel carbs. I also have a three carb setup that I understand is pretty rare for this engine. I hope to work on the finish in the near future but nothing major as the boat is in great condition for its age. It hasn't ran in about 3-4 years so the mechanicals need some attention also. Brings back lots of good memories.
From the Land of Dick O'Dea (Paterson, NJ / gasoline alley) http://www.dickodea.com/ that's me, I had and raced sanctioned by APBA a Sidcraft Hornet powered by a Mercury KG-4H... I Still have the "makings" for going fast, many "H" lower units and gear cases Mod A through Mod D 44 cu inch Merc or 750cc mod, is what they call the classes these days !
Cool thread....I had a 1956 Aristo-Craft ''Torpedo'' in the 80's...big ole' directional-fin on the bottom center hull....with a 1965 65hp Evenrude....loved that boat, and knew all 14' feet of it with lots of upkeep...gotta love Mahogany and teakwood combination....the old Evans Creek Dam (gone now) between Grants Pass and Rogue River, Oregon, had a vigorous and fun water-skiing group, and my little Torpedo boat parked between the big engine ski boats was always a conversation piece...fun in the sun, and soakin' up the sun in a recliner-lawnchair and cooler next to the boat in 12'' inches of water at the end of the day....pure heaven with a slick-lookin' boat...girls weren't bad either
Miller V-16 732 cu-in Gold Cup Boat engine. Centrifugal blowers, like having Four Offy's merged into one.
I have a 1961 Ken Craft 17 ft fiberglass boat with a 35hp mercury o/b, wrap around plexiglass windshield. Looks real late 50's early 60's, motor looks art deco. tag on trailer is 1978. Fiberglass and transon are good, missing seats. Been in my shop 3 years, too many projects to get to it( maybe never). I gave $25.00 dollars for it, if I had held off a little longer the guy might have paid me to haul it away. I figure it will take me $1500.00 to get it lake worthy and looking OK. That really means $3000.00. My dilemma is what will it be worth.
I recently saw an 18 ft skiff? Built by an old Aussie company Lewis, timber hulled 'clinker' with a 327 and Hilbourn inj a very nicely restored boat! The injection was apparently originally bought by Dean Moon!
I'm now the proud owner of this 1958 feather craft it needs alot of work but I love finned boats and I had to have it because it's aluminum too! Don't care much for fiberglass work so I love it that's it's aluminum. My plans are to take off what's left of the anodizing and polish the whole top and re spray the gold. I have a 1957 or 58 I believe Johnson 35 hp outboard that i got as a bonus from my weekend boss when he moved and a mercury 60 hp that came with the boat. The Johnson fits it way better I think. I traded my old mig welder to a buddy for the boat, trailer, outboard and new seats. hope to start on it in the spring the seats it came with are a nice set of new bucket? Seats with tuck and roll style upholstery. Was told it was once sunk and recovered years later and used as a crabbing boat that's why the transoms cut for a stuck drive. I'm going to have to repair all that and beef the transom up some but it's such a cool boat I think. Now I just got to get it home and hid behind the garage before my wife sees it... pretty much needs everything and will probally be worth less than the money I spend on it but I'm still excited.
Boatswagon boat car I built on a VW Chassis. The Boat is actually a Chrysler Conqueror. Paint is House of Color candies over huge flake.
