coupe1.JPG Here is a shot of mine: 4" channel and 3" chop. Im 5'8" and have the back of the seat mounted on the floor with a 2" rise in the front of the seat. There is plenty of head room for me

Dude, that is spot on. I was thinking about doing the rise on the front of my seats too to help. I have the kirkey bomber style seats. Nice nice car man

Since you like 3" chop, here's one of my coupe. It's chopped 3"
Seat position and upholstery has a lot to do with vision. Get it back (no package tray) and lean it back a few extra degrees. Use webbing instead of springs and contour the seat foam to get your butt down.

2" sounds about right. with a 4" channel that is equivelant to 6" chop headroom wise.

    Love your car!

My seats are bolted to the floor right now, and the package tray is already absent. I'll use 1" foam and lean them back.

  15. First, get your seating right.

Second, measure from the top of your head to the bottom of the headliner. That will give you the potential chop. You really don't want to drive around with your head hunkered down. Gets old fast.

Third, get some masking tape. Run a strip across the top of your windshield glass. If you use 1" tape then, sitting in the seat, you will know how much of your vision forward will be effected by a 1" chop. Keep adding tape until you find your sweet spot.

Nah, 5 is definitely too much for a car that's channelled 4" as is. Like I said, I enjoy driving my car.

Mine is 5. If I had a redo, it would be 4 1/2. It was alot of work getting the "egg shape" out of the 1/4 windows.

Mine is channelled 4" chopped 5 ½", my old coupe ( the gray one) is channelled 4" and chopped 4". I am 6-4 and fit fine in bucket seats mounted on the floor, but it is hard to see traffic signals and the tree at the drags. Hope that helps you make a decision.

30/31's need at least a 4" chop.. Raise the body if you have to; but at least a 4" chop, IMO...

Make some pockets in the floor so you sit lower in the car or raise it back up off the frame. I've owned an 'A' with a four inch chop, it was ok but four inches just isn't mean looking enough.

Raising the floor isn't an option. Too much work has already been done. Unfortunately the chop wasn't originally apart of the plan.

I really want to leave the floor and floor structure alone.

I think 3" is going to work well. 4" is just going to be too much for my liking.

I appreciate all the input guys, hearing different opinions always helps a ton.

Do you have photos of your floor? Yours must have been designed different bc there ain't no way in hell a 6-4" dude could get in mine with a 4" chop.

    Your cars look sick btw
