I just had my 60 cubic foot Mig welder tank filled...31 bucks plus tax...I thought the price had gone up but I paid the same 4 months ago What do you pay? What about oxygen and acetylene ?
I don't know the size of my tank.... but it cost me almost 70 bucks after taxes for argon/Co2 the other week here in the Bay Area. it is not the big tank, it is like 2 feet tall. maybe a 40 cubic foot??.
My big (5' tall) argon tanks run right at $50 including taxes and hazardous material charges. Not sure how an inert gas is classed as hazardous but that is how it goes here in Indy. Roo
1 supplier here in town and he tried to gouge me for a small tank of mixed Argon at $77 'till I pitched a senior fit! I was paying 40 for the same a year ago! I now have my friend at the welding shop supply me the tanks for a good discount.
141 cubic foot bottle "M" It's about 7" diameter about 4' high. $33.29 plus tax for either straight argon or 75/25 mix. Might want to price check the refills on the bigger bottles.
Holy shit you guys get cheap prices $145.00 for a 123 cf bottle up here for straight Argon. I am not a big user so I am sure I am paying retail but still.
I can out right buy and own the 141 bottles full of gas for $175.00 I lost track of the Canadian dollar exchange rate long ago.
Nothing to do with the exchange rate that's just the type of prices we have to pay up here. A full bottle of that size to buy would be $300 here easy.
...seems like last time I got a bottle filled it was half the price I paid the other week. this was within the last couple years. lucky for me the guy who's car I am working on paid for it.
I know that the price I pay at the counter (retail) and the price if I get my company's price is about double. So, I just take my tanks to work and get them swapped out and reimburse the company.
I'm a sub-dealer here. Every year for the last 3 or 4, I have seen a price increase of about 7%, except for accet, that just about doubled a couple of years ago. Then they added a surcharge, which was rolled into the price this year. A #4 accet is out the door at about $80 these days. Cost wise, the price per cf is lower in the larger cylinders, it just there are more cf to pay for. A 380 cf 75/25 costs about 2x what a 130 cf 75/25, but has nearly 3x the gas. Still hate to write that $125 check for that 380 cf cylinder. Gene
damn. dug out my receipt. "ARGON 75 CD 25 SIZE 40..." $55.77 for the gas .... then add taxes and fees and BS gave me a total of $69.35.
Martinez,CA : Customer owned cylinders : 145cf Acetelene $68.00 /251cf Oxygen $20.00 exchange last week.
I had been getting my 75-25 at a local tool rental place and it was going up EVERY time I went in. Last #4 (I think) bottle was $130! I was talking to a friend about it and he told me a store just across the street has just started getting it and it was only $45 otd!!! I took the other back and got a refund and have never looked back.
It's a tank Jungle out there... The ones I got for Argon, Mig Mix (75/25) & Oxygen are called 125's by Airgas Pro (second picture) The first picture calls is a 122... My Acetylene Tank is shorter ~37" to the top and fatter 7.5 - 8"...? Paying $162 for mix and argon... I gotta re-fill my oxygen tank today...wonder what that'll cost? ...probably a really rare gas..?
I have the biggest tanks they will exchange straight over the counter here: A 2-A acetylene and 80 cuft oxygen. I just paid $20 to fill the 80 cuft Oxy, but the invoice says 92 cuft, so I never know what to believe. The 2A acetylene is shorter & I think it's only 60 cuft. I haven't had that filled yet. Don't have a MIG yet so no argon either.
What is your gauge high pressure reading after getting a 60 CF 75/25 filled? Mine read 1000lb is that right? -Pat
Uhhhh no. Depends on temperature but it should be closer to 2000. Summer time they should go 22-2400 psi, and below zero maybe 1800-2000 psi.
