I like the smoothie caps FAR better, the seem to match the gentle curves on the body. IMHO, of course. LOVE that car. I've always wanted one. Gary

I imagine this will make a comeback, as did the steel wheels with trim rings and caps, the Cragar SS, Boyds (I try to forget the 80s).

I think the right wheel always makes the car. Use of trim items always makes a car interesting and different.

And as pointed out, build the way you want it to be.

My son just picked up four of these for his 54 F100, and is looking for a few more (spare tire on the truck and a spare...) Don't even know what they are, but they look right on his truck.

    Anyone have a few?

The Buicks that I had on my shoebox were sorta similar -- '55 Roadmaster spinners with Galaxie centers to hide their Buick origin. I thought the '55-56 Buick caps were very good looking, and underutilized even when they were new:

I didn't see anyone mention the plymouth sailboat hubcaps I think they had a couple different kinds. I have 53 olds hubcaps around my hudson and a couple 53? mercury laying around. I just bought whatever I could in sets or pairs that went to beat up. My olds came out of 4 different cars none of them were a olds and none were even mounted on a wheel. I've been wanting a set of the late 40s early 50s? Plymouth sailboats hubcaps ever since I saw a set on a car at a local junk yard. They wouldn't sell them I'm pretty sure the car got crushed with them in it. Kinda wish I had just took them but I'm no thief just sucks they were in mint condition.

The logo in the louvered one is Lyons, an aftermarket manufacturer. I don't recall every seeing one before; kinda neat.

Sorry, no picture, but maybe someone can post a '63 Avanti hubcap. WAY cooler thtn the pretender '65 Mustang and better looking than most mag wheels IMO. And I believe they were 15 inchers!

alright all you hubcap guys, take a pic at these and let me know your thoughts on them, they are cadillac, but are chrome steel, aftermarket? the badge is pretty decent detail, i assume they would be aftermarket but have seen some factory chromed steel stuff? also, the kicker, they are 16"

ill get some more pics of the attatchment style but it isnt like the normal cadi style i see where they mount in a inside bump poverty cap deal. this mounts on the outer edge of a rim like a normal hubcap.

  16. Wheel covers, not hubcaps. The title of this thread is significant. Sheesh.

Here are the covers I made for my 55 Plymouth with 15 inch wheels (stock).
I used 52 Plymouth wheel covers with an aftermarket cone.

To Peter Schmidt above in answer to your question
This cover is from a 56 Dodge non-lancer
    [IMG]

The Cadillac cover I believe is from a 58 Eldorado
Here is a pic of one from another site that I believe is the one you found
    [IMG]

The last cover you show I know I have seen but cannot place it at this time. I'll keep looking and see what I can find.[IMG]

  19. Got some 52 Buick wheel covers I'll sell if anyone needs them. All are have original paint and aside from minor dings are pretty straight.

    The last cap in #138 is a '57 or '58 Desoto ...

I don't think so. This is a '57 DeSoto; a '58 is different, but doesn't look like the one in #138:

Looks like yet another aftermarket variation on '57-'58 Dodge Lancer. They are unusual though, never seen them before.

I'm a fan of the late fifties era, where the full cover was the rage. I plan to use these Desoto's, with a little bullet to cover his head. I think they're Boss.

Here are a few wheel covers that I have had on my Merc over the past years.

'57 Buick with a bullet. Adding bullets make any cap look kool....

    '57 Lincoln with a bullet

57 Lincoln caps with a '54 Caddy centers and a Bullet center.

Very dirty Lyon hub cap with a bullet. One of my all time favorite.
