Royal Laundry, South Raymond Street, Pasadena, CA, 1930. Not sure how much laundry would fit in that Bantam coupe but sure would love to have it. The tile facade of the Royal Laundry was still there when I was growing up in Pasadena, and worked at a gas station right down the street.

I was looking at a 1961 Groveport-Madison High School Yearbook (where my Dad taught school from 1959-61) and really liked this picture of Ralph Smith on the supporters/advertisers page. Look close and you'll see he is holding a cigar in his right hand and a handkerchief in his left hand ready to dry perspiration from his forehead. I can hear Ralph say with a big smile as you walk in his showroom, "Howdy folks! Can I put you in a new Chevrolet today?" 100_6199 (1024x854).jpg

We used to have a guy come through my neighborhood with one of these in the early 60s. It was a fun ride and we would all clamour for that coveted front seat because you got to pull the string that rang the bell.
