  6. I would say a little lower all around. Most seemed to cover the wheel at the back and the front tire was usually covered up to the top of the whitewall.

Would you say 2" all the way around?

  8. Probably a good place to start. Maybe down a bit more in the front than the back. By that point cars were sitting a little more level. Certainly still a little higher in the front but not as exaggerated as the earlier speed boat stance.

Yes, the goal was to stick with a 51 build period but I could not resist some of the parts 53/54 had to offer.

Front does seem a little high. Can you take a few with the top down?

I think I'll try some Aerostar springs up front. The funny thing about the top is that I always have it up, not sure why I own a convertible. I'll put it down and take some pics.

  14. It's looking great Eric. You going to make it to the Jalopy Jam Up?

Swap in some Aerostar springs up front and call the ride height done. Nose should be slightly higher than the rear. Not a lot of cars were "slammed" in the '50s, although there are stories of filling the trunk with sand bags or people for the magazine photo shoots, so some look lower than they actually were.

I have been planning to take it to the Relix Riot that weekend. Maybe I should go north instead.

  16. The Relix Riot looks like a really good show, too bad they're on the same weekend. The Jalopy Jam Up is shaping up to be a helluva good time, there's going to be some fantastic cars there.

Just found this, really digging the build. Nice custom touches that show tasteful restraint. Here's a quick Photoshop for you...

image.jpg Out with her older sister. BRENT's 49. I have a set of 54 fender flares that we were pondering.

  21. You guys have the market cornered on shoebox convertibles or what? Nice pair (I don't get to say that in public every day :D)

I'm told that The Jalopy Jam Up may move by a week next year so it's not so close to B'ville, and it would move it away from the Relix Riot and Woodward.

    Yeah,thats a nice pair!
The aerostar springs came to my mind too.Maybe they'll do the trick and i guess its the cheapest way to lower the front end a bit.

I am going to see how it looks with some 54 Ford wheel flares next week and lower id from there.

Thanks, BRENT's car has really come a long way and hauls ass as much as it looks great. It has what I believe to be an original set of Inkster skirts as well.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg So I traded a trunk load of parts for these rare Meteor tail lights today. I'm not for sure but I think these will find a home here.

Not to second-guess you, but doesn't that make your "taillight spacing problem" even worse?

Just for the record, I think either would work. :)

Lol, I know what your saying but my problem with the 51 lights has more to do with the fact that they look like the eyes of a sleepy drunk who's mother drank too much as well.
