Great inspiration pics. I am beginning to see how this is going to come together and I'm getting stoked to see it.

So I know it doesn't look much different, but there is about 30 feet of 1x1 tubing making things pretty rigid. And it's square, and is gonna go together pretty well.

After taking a week off with Becky, I'm back on it. The race to the Race.

    So much welding.

Looks good. And gave me an idea of how to do my subrails a little different than I planned.

Today's progress included a quicky coat of paint over the thirsty old metal, more work on the rear corners, and the trial fit of a 28-29 radiator to the front. For the sake of time and money, I think this is the radiator I will use for now. Solutions for low T radiators on A chassis with A motors are complicated and expensive, and require lots of time and money, and I don't have much of either. So, it will have to be charming in that early purpose built sort of way, with the nose just a bit too high, as opposed to acquiring its charm from super slick lines and cubic money.

Tomorrow, I'll buzz in the remaining panels in the back that I've been making, and finish up the welding inside the body. Then it's off for paint to make it look like a racer. Stay tuned. More to come.

Now it's back where it belongs. 5 inch stretch at the seat back. 95% of the fabrication is done. Feels so good to be at that point.

And here it is again, at the end of the day. A few weeks ago, it looked a lot like this, except it was just clamped together. It's awesome to get to a point where an idea has been taken from a mock up to a point where the car holds itself together. Now it's time to make it look like a racer.

Got it in paint a couple days ago, and yesterday I started on the lettering and what not. Still a way to go, but everyday is a couple steps forward.

That looks great! Had you always planned for a yellow paint job or did that grill shell seal the deal?

I had always planned it. And then when I got the grille, I knew I'd been right all along. The yellow I planned was different from the grille, so I stripped that stuff off. It was basically falling off in the breeze anyway.

  23. Diggit. Race cars should be bright colors. But that's kind of a Saturday night lights opinion

Nifty! The graphics have a very authentic feel. Too often the art is a bit too modernly styled. I'm not a huge fan of scribbles either so this is just right.
