I finally had a chance to drag the coupe out that I bought a year ago. It has been sitting since 1974 in a pole barn. I wasn't real sure how much paint it was going to have on it under all of the dirt, after a quick pressure wash I was quite impressed. The car has a Columbia two speed and a 8CM Merc flattie. It seems that I have my work cut out for me though, the headliner is full of rodent nests and the engine is seized. My plans are to leave the paint alone, put a really nice interior in it and drive! And after it got some water on it. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1406500641.234417.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1406500653.335283.jpg

Looks like a good solid base to start with. New OEM interior, freshen up the mechanicals and brakes and check the wiring. New tyres and good to go?

  3. Take care of your lungs when cleaning out the interior. Nasty stuff in those rodent homes. Keep the pics of your progress coming, good score. Looks like that Ford just got a new lease on life.

That is pretty much the plan, I'm sure the flathead will have as many goodies as I can afford. The interior is something else, I'm thinking about something a little more 1950's custom. My dad came over today and brought a set of wheels & tires to roll it around on, after we got all of the drums turning we got it off of the trailer ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1406514101.058198.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1406514132.407274.jpg

  7. Cool! Yep, they are still out there.

  8. Those mid-late 40s fords are finally beginning to grow on me. Was watching "rebel without a cause" on TV this afternoon and loved the gray 46 long-door coupe like your 48. We had a few in town when I was in high school. Most had flaltheads and were school cars/daily drivers.

It's black, it has a bluish oxidation...I'm just really proud it has that much paint on it. My dad's 50 Merc came out of the same barn and it hardly has any paint left ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1406525958.489342.jpg
