Well sports fans, stay tuned for the latest update. Round 5 was held Saturday 19th July. Wind was howling from the south which is straight up the track, otherwise known as a headwind. I don't have enough horsepower to waste on a headwind! 2 qualifying runs against the Silver Bullet from Central Coast and runs that were like towing an open 'chute into the wind. Low 15's. 1st Chicago shootout run against Jeff who ran a 13.886 on a 13.88 dial. Can't get much better than that. 2nd run against Steve I took the win with both of us breaking out, me with a 14.862 on a 15.10 dial and Steve with a 13.809 on a 14.10 dial. The wind had dropped. 3rd run against Dave in the Bullet. Once again I took the win with Dave snoring on the start line and couldn't reel me in. I'd dialed 14.75 and ran a 15.03 and Dave dialed 13.75 and ran 13.833. That left me and Dave running the final. I was going to change my dial-in to 15.00 but couldn't because the track official had already radioed in my old dial-in. Oh well, suck it and see. I ran 14.764 on the existing 14.75 dial to take the win over Dave's 13.901 on a 13.75 dial. That my friends, was a good days racing. Two filums for you, one of the qualifying runs against Steve and the other of the final against Dave. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUEtTzeRshk
It was a good day with my flattie loosen up and now spins to 7000 rpm . Congrats pete on the win Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
What engine is the guy running in the film (1:57) where he just drives by you? That had some top end pull!
Thanks for your kind words and congratulations everybody. It felt bloody good I can tell you. G'day Storm King. The first one has got a straight six Chev with a bit of work done to it and triple SU carbies. Black Knight on here should be able to fill you in better as it's his brother driving the car he shares with Al. The second film , the silver car has a Slant six Valiant, or Chrysler if you prefer, worked with triple SU's. The Chev's terminal speed was 93.35 mph and mine was 87.59. The 'leaning tower of power' ran through at 102.28 mph and mine was 87.93mph. You ought to be in my seat watching them fly by! The upside is that I've got the slowest qualifying times which means they have to chase me and I don't give in easily.
spanners, Congrats on the win! I have a question for you. What size steering wheel are you using? Reason being is I'm leaning toward using a regular style one vs. a butterfly for mine.
It's a 10" diameter wheel. Sorry, I can't think what brand it is. A mate over here bought it from America but wasn't able to use it on his Dodge hot rod because of our rego rules.
