Getting up the stuff to mount a set of slicks on BGII (31 "A" roadster), for when I'm @ drag strip only. Summit is only 20 mins from me, so I prefer to buy them there. Looking thru their huge list of lug nuts, the ones that most fit my needs on all aspects of size are of the "Gorilla" brand. The wheels I'm using are Amer. Racing "Daisey" pattern that I picked up a couple years ago @ the Perry, GA swap meet and use the old style shank type lugs with 11/16" shanks. Anybody used these "Gorilla" lug nuts? What is your opinion of them, if you have used them.
The Gorilla brand lug nut has been around for year. used them back in the 90s through today. mostly for non hamb friend vehicles with aftermarket wheels. The most used lug from them would be the skinny type that needs a splined key to remove. they have always been good to me. not sure what style you are using but I have had good luck with the brand
I got some Gorillas that I bought from Summit here and a set of slots to go with them. Bought then in about '96 06 7. The chrome has stayed well on them and I had no failures with them. Originally they were on an 11 second streeter that I had at the time ( Non HAMB friendly). I would buy some more.
First time I ever heard of this brand lugnut. I've always used McGard. I will be following this thread. Pat
Gorilla makes both high quality lug nuts and locking lug nuts. Chrome seems to be better than average quality, I have used impact wrench on chrome nuts without damaging the chrome. They also seem a bit heavier than some of the cheaper brands. Gorilla catalog has a pretty decent coverage too.
We use Gorilla brand exclusivly, they are high quality and fairly priced. We have never had a bad lug in 16 years. Scott Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
used gorilla on my one ton DD because the holes in the rims are tight have to use what they call a tuner lug its splined no problems in the last 10 years with them , my speed shop carrys them for the tuner crowd because they have small holed rims and want that different look , I use Mc gaurd shank styles on my welds because they have the removable cab the tech guys want to see the thread engagement ( I cut down my studs to remove weight )
The chrome holds up better than the China brand swap meet one's, but not as nice as the McGard, which are made 2 miles away from my house. Posted using a number two pencil on a paper napkin.
You may need to run thick washers or shorten the shanks depending on what Gorilla has as the original 200S wheels are relatively thin on the mounting face compared with a typical slot mag or similar. I am putting a set on my C1500 shop truck and ran into that problem (also struggled to find 14 mm shank style lug nuts but that is just a late model/old wheel issue) Roo
the lug nuts on my convert are Gorilla, and I can't fault them, good chrome, and so far no problems with them
