    Just curious:
How Much do you guys pay for:
    TIG - Argon ?
    MIG - Mix Gas (75% Argon / 25% CO2) ?

    I pay around $180 - 10% = $162 for a 125 bottle over here...!

I just had my 100% Argon exchanged for my TIG...$35. The larger CO2-Argon bottle, IIRC is about 40.

  3. I pay about $100 for an exchange on a size 22 bottle 100% Argon which I think is the 125

The larger bottles of argon run 65 ish around here in nebraska. No clue on the mix but I believe it's less.

Just refilled the little 45 cu. in. C25 tank for my MIG today for $25.00 & some change.

  6. Down under here in Australia I pay $180 AUSD for an "E" sized cylinder for both Tig and Mig gas. To give you an idea...the "E" size stands about 1200 mm high and about 300 mm round. The Tig lasts a lot less because I use it more than Mig welding now.

I just paid $64.00 for 60" tall (I think it's a 330) bottle of argon/co2 mix, $45.00 cylinder test fee and tax for a total of $116.90. I had to drive 25 miles out into the country to get it, as I was desperate and my nearby welding supply store of over 30 years just closed up with no warning. My bottle was 10 years out of date. The old store just kept refilling it and I never checked it. Man is that thing heavy.

Like Mtw fdu said, "Tig lasts a lot less" than MIG...

...Anyone tried using a gas lens style collet? -
it's not the purpose of it, but it's supposed to reduce gas usage?

  11. I find Tig welding is better overall for weld quality and convenience for me.

Now I feel a lot better about the $40 per refill or so I pay for both (and $8/month rental per bottle). Acetylene is about twice that....

I went from a 40 ft to 80 ft tank 75/25 and only went up like $5, alot of it is in the service charge. I paid around $45.

  14. Rental for me on all of my 4 bottles adds up to $800 per year. All "E" sizes, Tig, Mig, and Oxy and Accet.

    I have 2 Argon, 1 Mix, 1 Oxy & 1 Acetylene.
I own my tanks (forgot ((don't wanna remember) how much I paid for them)
    And I still pay $162 for just a re-fill...!

I gotta try squeeze the Gas guys a bit!

Tommy i pay the same as you. Air Liquid Sand Island. gas collets work well in dispersing the gas over the weld puddle.
