  7. 40 ford wheels are a great traditional wheel. Widened rears help "puff out" 7.50 tires and late 40s center caps look perfect. That said, I'm using 53-56 chrysler wire wheels...fronts are stock 5.5" wide by 15" and rears are 7" wide.
I'm using 32-35 ford caps on mine and I can't post photos of the tires because they're not traditional.

40 Ford wheels are beautiful and I'm putting a set on my current roadster build. That said, for a late 50's period build, they would have been pretty outdated. 15" tires were common by then, and a cutting edge rod would have had 14" wheels, since they were offered on new cars in '57. I'm sure guys were still using them on real basic rods in the late 50's, but if you intend to make your car look like a fresh build or a show rod from that time, 15" wheels and some kind of full wheelcover like a Lancer or a Fiesta would be more appropriate. Ford wheel center sections with reversed Buick hoops would also have been very popular.

I like the way the 5" wheel makes the 750 look.
