It was 79 degrees , a cool breeze and the big oak trees made it fun to hang out and have a beer and bench race after the club races.

On july 12th you either went to Gambino's bitch'en custom show, or you went and ate hotdogs at Mooneyes, or if you were into drag racing, you went to Barona.
For me , it was dejavu, for it reminded me of the first King of Clubs eleven years ago, it was care free, relaxed , and you had time to talk to people. Shure the car show was lame , with no D.J. it was quite and it obligated you to walk around and check out the cars and talk to people. By 1 oclock you were bored stiff, and then the magic happen,, It was time to race, there was very little to do but race and this made almost everbody in the car show want to join in the fun. Last minute racers scrambled to get their tec card and get inspected. . One of the Helldivers was wearing shorts and sandles and was scrambeling to see who would lend him some pants and shoes so he could pass tec.. Other guys ran up to the tower to borrow helmets. This was the whole intention of the show, to get guys who had never drag raced give it a try. So ya we disapointed the scenesters, and the party people, and if this is the last King of Clubs, we want it to be remembered as a drag race and not some out of control party with a bunch of drama.

I have to say this year was a heak of a lot different then the last 6 years. It was for the best, I got that 1st time event feel again (Like A Virgin), everybody was cool. Chilled under a Big Oak as Miguel said, got to run my Hotrod down the track against friends and made new friends. No drama, plenty of room to put your canopy up. Lots of elbo room.
Thankyou to the Lifters (Miguel) who made the event happen. I had the best time lining up against Butch and his Blown Willies. So sweat to hear that Blower wide open in my left ear screaming down the track, thinking he's going to get me!! Thats Racing!

A good run for the PPE would be low 6's.

Marky could'ent make it this year, he broke the ppe at the Antique Nationals a few weeks before. I believe his best times were at Mooneyes this year ,I heard he ran high 5's and made that thing fly .
