I'm a Mopar guy but not a fan of Plum Crazy purple. I'm after a deeper berry purple hue like the Trans Am posted a couple posts back.

I call mine eggplant purple, but it is a PPG color. In the shadows or at night, most peolple think the car is black. In the direct sunlight it pops deep purple. If interested, send me a PM and I can get the info as my can of paint is not at the house.

Sweet color. I've got a Harley Road King painted that color. It was first used on the '92 Camaro and called "Purple Haze"

I've heard that since being bought by Valspar in '97 House of Kolor has gone down hill, especially recently. Don't remember the exact details and can't say with certainty since I've only used the stuff a couple of times. I can say that I'm skeptical of it since I re-did a 3 stage candy job that was peeling. However I can't rule out application error since it was done by another shop...

What I typically use is Sherwin Williams Planet Color. I'm absolutely blown away with the quality and they have a nice dark purple pearl as well.

1994 Ford ultraviolet - code is GN95. It has two different micas in it so that it changes from bluish tinge in day time to reddish tinge at night....

  23. Not a Factory color for oem, but Dupont has a 'Hot Hues' line. There are several really nice purple 3 stage. Mine was blue under the purple. It is called Moonlight Violet.

You want it REEEEEL deep and dark? Candy purple over a black pear;l base...a little lighter, over a Galaxy Gray base (all HOK paints)
another way to go, would be to shoot the car straight black, then mix about 75% clear with 25% black, dump in some purple pearl, and shoot a coat or 2 over it, then straight clear.

I did a car back in the late 80's that was shot black metallic. Then I applied a clearcoat with a blue pearl in it. Dark dark purple when you looked at it sideways and very close to black straight on. Looked purple to everyone that looked at it.
