I'm inspired. After two months of serious prepping, I on my way to a local cruise-in in my '35 Plymouth coupe. 12.7k miles and unbelievably untouched, but due to a long period of less than optimal storage, everything needed attention. Running fine so far.
Back in the early 70's I had a friend that owned a almost identical black coupe,he drove it daily untill he traded it for a Nova, what a mistake! HRP
Not that there's anything wrong with Nova's, but trades like that make me wonder how mankind made it past the 70's.
Jeez, Fred...You have to say it so RIGHT??? Man, that's a sweet Plymouth! When I was young, (11) that was '53, there was a 22 year old guy that lived in the apartments behind me. He had an identical black '35 Plymouth Coupe...but it was lowered in FRONT. My bicycle buds and I looked it over, 8.20 X 15" wide whites in rear, 5.90 X 15" wides in front...the rear tires filled the wells, and the car seemed to be standing on its nose. We thought it looked 'stupid'. Had '56 Chrysler New Yorker full caps on it, just 'tasty', and a few days later, we agreed it was beautiful...there were a couple of Ford Coupes in that month's R&C that were 'raked'. One of the first California Rakes in Santa Clara, though...That Plymouth changed me forever. LOL The owner, Dick, was a CHP officer, just out of the Academy. Nice guy, he came out when I was admiring it one morning, was surprised at my interest. He lifted the hood...CHRYSLER Spitfire 6, Edmunds equipped...3 singles, hi comp head, headers, he said it ate Fords and Chevs. Had a Dodge truck floorshift trans, Dick said it turned 90+ MPH at the drags.
Really nice coupe, rarely see the hood ornament intact, front sail usually broken off. A friend paid big $$$ to replace his but had to have it. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App
Thanks for asking. Drove 41 miles and made it home without a problem other than a vibrating rear u-joint. Here's a few more pictures.
I don't know of anything I'd change on that car, other than repairing any mechanical issues. I love the wood grain garnish moldings, what a classic look. You have a beautiful car, I know you'll enjoy it.
